Kim Se-jeong led the drama's emotional arc to a peak with detailed facial expressions and eye acting in Moon River.
On Oct. 12 and 13, episodes 11 and 12 of the MBC Fri-Sat drama Moon River aired, revealing Dali's past in earnest and continuing a narrative in which love and fate intersect. The truth about Yeon-wol, who had been mistaken as the substitute criminal who assassinated the queen, was revealed, and Dali, even amid the confusion of returning memories, showed a determined will to return to the palace and protect Lee Kang (Kang Tae-oh). She did not yield even before the king, clearly asserting that she was Bak Dali and revealing a firm inner strength.
When Lee Kang realized that Dali was a concubine of the empty palace, long-suppressed emotions cautiously overflowed toward each other. Dali also held back the sadness well and confirmed her feelings with a calm and affectionate attitude, deepening the relationship between the two.
Dali's time, having to bear at once the lives of concubine Kang Yeon-wol and Bak Dali, continued. When Han-cheol threatened the lives of her parents using Dali's identity as bait, Dali revealed herself as the deposed concubine of the Kang clan and faced the crisis head-on. Even when the king gave Lee Kang the opportunity to leave the palace with him, Dali chose to stay, saying she could not abandon those who believed in and waited for her. The narrative of steadfastly upholding responsibility and conviction for everyone once again proved Dali's resolve.
Kim Se-jeong delicately unraveled the complexly accumulating emotional lines—from Yeon-wol's tragic memories and Dali's resolute appearance to the tremor of confirming love—leading the entire drama with depth. She precisely expressed the emotional crescendo with her eyes and subtle facial changes, and she detailed moments when the swelling emotion matched her solid inner strength, enriching the character's narrative. Kim Se-jeong's expressive power, which naturally acted out complex emotions and guided the drama's emotional line, shone even more and carried the show to its climax.
Meanwhile, the MBC drama Moon River, in which Kim Se-jeong is giving a passionate performance, airs every Friday and Saturday.
