Actor Go Hyun-jung mentioned a December wish while waiting for the upcoming Christmas, and news of her past illness is being revisited.
On the 13th, Go Hyun-jung posted on her personal social media, "Christmas 2025 is coming. Actually, almost every December I only have memories of being sick," adding, "This year please, even if it's not joyfulㅠ I sincerely hope it passes safely without anything happening."
In response, Um Jung-hwa left a comment saying, "I hope you spend it without getting sick, happily and warmly!" and Go Hyun-jung replied, "Sister, filming must be really cold and hard, right?? What can I doㅜㅜ Our winter filming crew knows each other better than anyoneㅠ stay strong. I love you, sister," answering back.
Earlier, Go Hyun-jung had appeared on numerous variety shows and confessed health problems. In particular, in January last year on the web variety show "Yojeong Jae-hyung," when she met Jung Jae-hyung she spoke about her current condition, "First, I was quite sick. I was sicker than I thought. I thought this pain was just me imagining and feeling sick. The more time passed, the more unusually painful it became," she revealed.
Saying she underwent a health check because of the pain, Go Hyun-jung recalled, "It was serious. My body couldn't have a health check. It was urgent; two hospitals joined forces to conduct the health check," adding, "After finishing the health check, problems were found. I thought treatment would make me better, but I collapsed while walking," she recalled.
Go Hyun-jung said she even asked for help from people passing by on the street, "As I collapsed I said, 'I'm Go Hyun-jung. Please save me.' I could only see the feet of the people walking by. After regaining consciousness, about two days later the hospital diagnosed what the real problem was and treated the illness. I was in the hospital for a long time, and after I was discharged I had changed," she said.
She added, "I have gotten much better, and I still go to the hospital regularly and take medicine," she said. Later that August she appeared on "Salon Drip 2" and said she was not yet fully cured, "After collapsing five years ago I stopped being able to drink. At the hospital they are focusing treatment to help me recover quickly. They say in the fall they will reduce the medicine and I will stabilize, but it is not completely healed," she confessed that she has been battling the illness for more than five years.
Reflecting on past Decembers, Go Hyun-jung said, "I only have memories of being sick every year," which brought attention back to her battle with illness, and fans and netizens filled the comments with words of support. One netizen said, "If you work too hard that year, you get sick at the end of the year," and another netizen said, "Go Hyun-jung enjoys being single elegantly, so I think she will overcome it," showing various reactions.
Meanwhile, Go Hyun-jung met viewers this year playing the psychopathic killer Jung I-shin in SBS's The Mantis: Original Sin. With the 2025 SBS Drama Awards scheduled for Dec. 31, attention is focused on whether Go Hyun-jung will attend the ceremony.
