Cooking master Lee Hye-jung confessed the laugh-cry past of in-law hardship when she experienced the '2,000 heads of napa cabbage kimchi' right after marriage.
On the 11th, a video titled "What happens when Lee Kyung-kyu makes kimchi for the first time with cooking-clumsy Ye-rim (feat. cooking master)" was posted on the YouTube channel GodKyung-kyu. The video showed Lee Kyung-kyu and his daughter Lee Ye-rim visiting Lee Hye-jung to learn how to make kimchi.
That day, while talking about making kimchi, the production team asked, "Have you ever made a thousand heads of kimchi?" and she recalled, "At that time my in-laws ran an obstetrics clinic, so I had to make kimchi to give to the new mothers."
She said, "I got married on Oct. 24. I won't forget the date. But exactly one month later, on Nov. 24, I made 2,000 heads," surprising everyone. She added, "My mother-in-law brought in nothing but heads of napa cabbage and then disappeared somewhere. I did it alone while crying," sharing the situation at the time.
Lee Hye-jung said, "I thought I was going to die of anger. I came to my in-laws determined as if my life depended on it, and then they told me to do this," and she joked, "That's why people curse their mothers-in-law like that. Who would do this for no reason?"
When the cooking master's storm-scale kimchi-making and candid 'in-law life recollection' were revealed, viewers responded with various reactions such as, "I couldn't even imagine 2,000 heads," and, "I understand that mother-in-law."
