Group WJSN member Yoo Yeon-jeong will meet audiences in the musical "Sugar."
Yoo Yeon-jeong will take the stage in the authentic Broadway show musical "Sugar" at the KEPCO Art Center Grand Theater on the 13th.
The musical "Sugar" is based on the globally successful romantic comedy film Some Like It Hot (I Like It Hot). Set in 1929 America during the Prohibition era when the manufacture, sale and import of alcoholic beverages were completely banned, it cheerfully portrays the story of two musicians who, having accidentally witnessed a gang murder, disguise themselves as women and join a female band to survive.
As it is being presented as the Korean premiere, expectations are high, and Yoo Yeon-jeong plays Sugar, a pure vocalist who dreams of love. With a clear yet rich tone and delicate expressiveness that underpin her steady acting, she will invite audiences to early-20th-century America and complete an even more charming Sugar character.
Yoo Yeon-jeong, who made her musical debut in 2022 with the musical Ridgey, made a successful musical debut with a striking impression through notable immersion. Since then, she has solidified her position as a musical actress through genre-defying challenges in musicals such as Crash Landing on You, Aloha, My Mothers and The Great Comet.
After being recast in Ridgey last year and proving her stage abilities with even more powerful vocals and emotionally charged performances, and recently adding dramatic variety by portraying the character Memoria three-dimensionally in the musical Frida, expectations are growing for what new aspects Yoo Yeon-jeong will show in Sugar to prove her boundless range.
Through her agency, Yoo Yeon-jeong said, "I am so honored to participate in the Korean premiere of Sugar. Because this work is based on a world-renowned masterpiece, I have a strong desire to do well, and I will carry this passion through to the end and do my best to bring great laughter and emotion to the audience. This winter, I will work hard so that Sugar and I, Yoo Yeon-jeong, can help you have an even more cheerful and warm year-end, so please look forward to it and support us a lot."
Meanwhile, the musical Sugar, in which Yoo Yeon-jeong appears, will be presented at the KEPCO Art Center Grand Theater through Feb. 22, 2026.
