Choi Yeon-su, the daughter of band Dickpunks' Kim Tae-hyun and chef Choi Hyun-seok and an actress and model, announced her pregnancy three months after marriage and is receiving congratulations.
On Dec. 12 Choi Yeon-su posted on her social media, "It happened. I'm already receiving a lot of affection from the aunts around me. I would appreciate it if you could look on us kindly," along with several photos.
In the released photos Choi Yeon-su is smiling brightly while holding an ultrasound photo of the fetus together with her husband Kim Tae-hyun. Four cut photos with their pet dog, as well as photos of baby items that appear to have been received from acquaintances, were released, adding to the warm feeling. With this pregnancy news, chef Choi Hyun-seok became a grandfather.
Kim Tae-hyun was born in 1987 and Choi Yeon-su was born in 1999, and the two overcame a 12-year age gap to continue their love. Choi Yeon-su had revealed several times on social media that she was a fan of Dickpunks in the past, so their special relationship, developing from fan to lover, drew major attention. When rumors of their relationship surfaced in Nov. last year, the two admitted they were dating with marriage in mind, and after five and a half years of dating they held a wedding at a location in Seoul in Sept. this year. Ahead of the wedding they released wedding photos and the preparation process and received many congratulations.
Before marriage Choi Yeon-su drew attention by candidly sharing her thoughts on marriage and plans for children on her personal channel and Q&A content. To the question, "When do you plan to have children?" she answered, "Anytime!" revealing her desire for children, and regarding why she decided to marry earlier than her peers she said, "I thought that since we probably wouldn't break up and would settle down, we should get married quickly and have a baby."
On parental opposition due to the age difference she said, "I understand why my parents opposed it. I would have opposed it if I were a parent," and offered practical advice that resonated, saying, "On the older side you have to visibly, insanely treat them well. Time is ultimately the answer."
Kim Tae-hyun also revealed on a past radio broadcast, "There were ups and downs in the early stages of dating. But after seeing how well she took care of me, they eventually gave permission," recounting the difficult process.
