As comedian Park Narae's so-called "Jusa aunt" A deleted her SNS account and effectively disappeared, former entertainment reporter-turned-YouTuber Lee Jin-ho compared A to "the second Jeon Cheong-jo," expanding the fallout.
After allegations related to Park Narae spread recently, A changed her SNS to private and deleted some posts. Afterwards it was confirmed that she had completely removed the account itself, prompting online reactions that ranged from criticism saying "isn't this evading responsibility" to comments that "circumstantial evidence has become stronger."
A had earlier posted a photo wearing a doctor's coat on SNS and an online profile that appeared to be Chinese-based, claiming to be a medical professional herself. She drew attention by saying, "I served as the first foreign and domestic professor at Inner Mongolia Fokang Medical University Hospital 12 to 13 years ago," and, "I served as director of the Korea Plastic Surgery Center." She also pleaded her innocence, saying, "My life collapsed after COVID-19. Please don't make me gossip."
However, the medical community strongly questioned her claims. The group 'Doctors for a fair society' officially announced that the Inner Mongolia Fokang Medical University mentioned by A is a non-existent, ghost medical school, and A's SNS posts were quickly deleted afterward.
The Korean Medical Association Organization also issued an official statement, characterizing A's actions as "clearly illegal unlicensed medical practice." The association said that after checking its internal databases, A has never held a domestic medical license. It added that "any procedure performed by a nonmedical person is a violation of Article 27 of the Medical Service Act," stressing that the illegality should not be obscured under the pretext of home visits.
As the controversy grew uncontrollably, YouTuber Lee Jin-ho covered the case on his personal channel on the 10th and compared A to the "Jeon Cheong-jo" case, drawing attention. He said, "I'm approaching this as if reporting on a second Jeon Cheong-jo," and, "The more we peeled it back, the more new circumstances emerged like layers of an onion. It seems increasingly likely that the entertainers are the victims." His remarks both increased credibility among internet users and served to heighten suspicions around the case.
A has currently gone off the radar after even deleting her SNS accounts. Park Narae's side denied illegal medical practice and explained it was a home-visit medical service, but amid controversy over A's identity and career and the medical community's official rebuttal, the dispute shows no sign of dying down.
Some pointed out that "the fact that a figure whose identity has not been clearly confirmed was linked to multiple celebrities was itself a dangerous sign," and attention is focused on future investigations and additional verification results.
