'Radio Star' actor Heo Sung-tae repeatedly praised actor Park Bo-gum's character.
The MBC variety show 'Radio Star' that aired on the 10th featured actor Heo Sung-tae. Once a supporting actor and scene stealer who worked across television and film, he is now taking a leading role in the movie 'Informant' and has confidently stepped forward as a promotional ambassador.
Heo Sung-tae said, "'Radio Star' is a channel that even my mother is happy about. My movie 'Informant' had an unexpectedly scheduled release, so I'm grateful to appear like this," and smiled brightly. Kim Gu-ra asked about his recent condition, saying, "You said you recently felt the popularity of MBC variety shows." Heo Sung-tae said he and Han Sang-jin, who are in the same agency, appeared on 'Hangout with Yoo' in the 'people who aren't popular' segment and ended up ranking near the bottom, tasting humiliation.
Heo Sung-tae said, "I thought it was 'Infinite Challenge' 'Not-So-Pretty' and went on, but it was 'people who aren't popular.' Now I understand why I'm not popular. I forgot I have a fan cafe, and then my fan cafe held an event. I sent a message to the 100th member, but they didn't check it," and "Hello, 'Dr. Ryu', 'Hae-in's time', please check your messages," he said, thanking his fans and drawing laughter.
Although Heo Sung-tae seemed like someone who had lived a life of theater, he had an unexpected background. He was a corporate sales employee who was achieving results in Russia and rising rapidly as an office worker. He said, "Before that, I was someone who just liked watching other people's acting while watching the movies 'Sunflower' and 'The Man from Nowhere.' I thought getting married early and giving my parents grandchildren was filial duty. Then I heard there would be an audition in Busan. So I tried. Out of 800 people, I made the top 15, and I kept advancing through auditions," saying he had dreams about acting.
Heo Sung-tae said, "I prepared by watching senior Choi Min-sik's acting, and I met senior Choi Min-sik on 'Big Bet.' I ad-libbed a string of curses, and senior Choi Min-sik said, 'Sung-tae, nice!' I got goosebumps," describing the exhilaration he felt after becoming an actor.
Heo Sung-tae said, "My mother hit me. She cried and did those things. In the meantime I showed her my acting. But she got angry," and "My older brother is 10 years older than me. He yelled at me, saying, 'I want to be a singer too, so should I quit my job and become a singer?' Of course now everyone is happy that I became an actor," saying that although his family initially opposed his choice, they now recognize him as a respectable actor.
He spared no praise for Park Bo-gum among his fellow actors. Heo Sung-tae said, "Park Bo-gum gave me things when no one knew and, because I played a detective, he even gave me clothes as a birthday gift when no one knew," and added, "I thought of him as an older brother and kept buying meals. But after I bought several times, Park Bo-gum said, 'Brother, we should split the bill to last longer,' and I realized. Since then I have practiced it on set," he said. Heo Sung-tae went on, "Park Bo-gum said, 'Brother, please don't smoke.' So I quit smoking earlier this year. It was a bit hard. If you quit smoking in certain regions, support is available," praising Park Bo-gum's character to no end.
