Nam Tae-hyun, who was indicted on charges of driving under the influence, appeared at his first trial and admitted to the charges against him.
On the morning of the 11th, Judge Heo Jun-seo, director general of Criminal Division 11 at the Seoul Western District Court, opened the first court hearing for Nam Tae-hyun, who is accused of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving) and other charges.
That day Nam Tae-hyun appeared wearing a black mask and clothes with his bleached hair tied back. When the court asked his occupation, he drew attention by answering, "I am a company employee now."
When asked whether he admitted all the facts in the indictment, Nam Tae-hyun briefly answered, "Yes."
Earlier, on April 27, near Dongjak-daero in the direction of Ilsan on Gangbyeonbuk-ro, Nam Tae-hyun is accused of attempting to pass the car in front of him and crashing into the central divider. There were no casualties, and it was reported that Nam Tae-hyun's blood alcohol concentration at the time was at or above 0.08%, the level for license cancellation.
At the time, Nam Tae-hyun was serving a suspended sentence for drug use. He was indicted on charges of using methamphetamine together at the home of Seo Min-jae in Yongsan District, Seoul, in August 2022 and of using methamphetamine alone overseas in December of the same year, and the court in January last year sentenced Nam Tae-hyun to one year in prison with a two-year suspended sentence.
This is also Nam Tae-hyun's second drunk driving incident. He was accused of driving under the influence around 3:30 a.m. in March 2023 in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul. According to the police, after drinking with acquaintances he called for a designated driver, but while waiting he moved his car about 5 meters, which had been blocking his acquaintances' vehicles, and reparked it.
In the process, as he was opening the door of the parked car he collided with a passing taxi and damaged the taxi's right side mirror, and they settled. However, afterwards Nam Tae-hyun drove the car himself, and an alcohol test showed a blood alcohol concentration of 0.114%, exceeding the license cancellation level. As a result, Nam Tae-hyun also received a summary order for a fine of 600,000 won.
