As actor Cho Jin-woong declared retirement amid controversy over being a juvenile offender, key cast members of the tvN drama The Second Signal, including Lee Je-hoon and Kim Hye-soo, in succession posted silent messages on their social media (SNS).
According to the broadcasting industry on the 11th, Lee Je-hoon posted photos from the set on his SNS account the previous day. It came four days after Cho Jin-woong declared on the 6th that he would halt his acting career over the controversy about being sent to a juvenile reformatory.
On the 6th, Kim Hye-soo posted a photo on SNS of macarons she received from a cosmetics brand. The photo showed the macaron brand along with the name Kim Hye-soo. It was reported there was no text besides the photo.
Lee Je-hoon and Kim Hye-soo, together with Cho Jin-woong, were counted among the key cast members of the tvN drama The Second Signal, slated to air in June next year. They reunited to film for the first time in 10 years since it ended in 2016.
The Second Signal finished filming in Aug., but assessments are that a June airing next year is impossible. That is because Cho Jin-woong, who played Detective Lee Jae-han, a major character in the drama, has been embroiled in controversy over being a juvenile offender.
Earlier, Cho Jin-woong became entangled in controversy over being a juvenile offender. Entertainment outlet Dispatch reported that Cho Jin-woong had a record of receiving juvenile protective disposition for a serious crime in high school. It was also reported that he had prior records of assault and drunk driving.
Afterward, Cho Jin-woong declared retirement, saying, "I bow my head and apologize for disappointing those who trusted and supported me due to disgraceful incidents in the past." tvN said it is "discussing the airing issue."
