'Save me! Homes' Shanghai episode airs… despite editing to erase traces of Park Na-rae, some full shots exposed
'On 'Save me! Homes,' Kim Sook and chef Jung Ji-seon left for Shanghai, China for the 'Save me! Global Homes' project in a global special that aired.
On the MBC variety show 'Save me! Homes' broadcast on the 11th, a full shot of Park Na-rae was captured.
The broadcast that day was part of the 'Save me! Global Homes' series introducing real estate prices in various countries, and following previous episodes that featured listings from countries including Australia·the United States·Hong Kong as well as Egypt·Georgia, it chose Shanghai as the first destination in its Asia megacity series. Chinese cuisine queen chef Jung Ji-seon and 'Head of Team' Kim Sook toured the site to introduce Shanghai's residential environment.
However, the appearance of 'Bok team leader' Park Na-rae, who had long been the face of the program, was hard to find in that day's broadcast. Park Na-rae had been an original member since the program's first broadcast in 2019, but recently she felt responsibility amid conflicts with former managers and various allegations and suspended all broadcasting activities. The production team also said it respected Park Na-rae's wishes to leave the show and planned to edit out as much of the existing footage as possible and not air it.
In that day's broadcast, in most scenes Park Na-rae's voice was replaced with other narration or cuts were edited to remove the space where she had been in the frame. Careful editing was applied to close-ups and medium shots so that traces of Park Na-rae would hardly be revealed.
However, because of the nature of overseas location shoots that had already been completed, in some full-shot scenes Park Na-rae's silhouette or back was briefly caught. Because of this, viewers reacted, "You can see traces of attempts to erase her as much as possible," and "It seems full shots were unavoidable."
Viewers who were familiar with Park Na-rae from her long-term appearances expressed regret, and the production team is expected to continue the program without Park Na-rae for the time being.<
