TVING original "Villains": a real criminal world designed with counterfeit banknotes opens.
TVING original "Villains", which will be released on Dec. 18 (Thu), (directed by Jin-hyeok · Park Jin-Young, written by Kim Hyung-joon, planned by CJ ENM, produced by Taewon Entertainment, provided by TVING) on the 11th released character posters and the trailers for episodes 1-2 that raise expectations for the suffocating war of the "Villains" who plunged into the Supernote war.
Villains, which will be released simultaneously in Korea and across the Asia-Pacific region including Japan through a global streaming service, is a super crime action that depicts bloody clashes and confrontations among villains surrounding ultra-precision counterfeit banknotes called supernotes. The story briskly unfolds as those who try to swap counterfeit bills for real money, and the unpredictable brain games of the "tough" guys who try to take back the money they swapped, collide.
Director Jin-hyeok, who wrote a success story with every work he directed such as "Sisyphus: The Myth," "The Legend of the Blue Sea" and "Master's Sun," and director Park Jin-Young, who showcased sensitive directing skills, take the megaphone, and Kim Hyung-joon, who directed the crime thriller film "There Is No Forgiveness," penned the script, raising expectations for the birth of a crime action on a different level. In particular, the meeting of reliable actors such as Yoo Ji-tae and Lee Min-jung further raises drama fans' expectations.
Meanwhile, the extraordinary auras of J (played by Yoo Ji-tae), Cha Ki-tae (played by Lee Beom-soo) and Han Soo-hyun (played by Lee Min-jung) in the released character posters overwhelm the eyes. The phrase added to J's heavy charisma, "Real money, we'll make you rich," gives a glimpse of the confidence of a genius-minded crime architect with a "100% win rate." Shrouded in mystery and called the "codename J (J)," he designs a board of desire beginning with the "casino dealer counterfeit banknote incident" that turned the world upside down.
Cha Ki-tae, former head of the National Intelligence Service (NIS) financial crime task force, is a figure who lost everything after being caught up in the "casino counterfeit banknote incident." His aura, which emits a sharp gaze even in darkness, is intriguing. The phrase "Real money, you just follow this smell and chase it" again reveals the counterfeit banknotes, along with Cha Ki-tae's obsession to catch the elusive architect J.
Lee Min-jung, who has been perfectly transformed into the nation's top banknote design artist Han Soo-hyun, also shines in presence. The phrase above her, "Real money, I'll make it," raises expectations for her activity as she joins hands with the architect J and jumps into the "Supernote" game board. In particular, the sharp anger that flashes across her deep eyes makes one more curious about her story as she waits only for the moment of retribution.
The released trailers for episodes 1-2 make clearer who these people are. Architect J, a genius target of a cross-border investigative dragnet. His nonchalant attitude, smiling and saying "Nick is J," arouses interest. Then there is Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency violent crimes unit chief Jang Jung-hyuk, who exudes an unusual aura, NIS agent Cha Ki-tae who pursues the "villains," and Han Soo-hyun, the only successor of the country's top banknote design technician. The unpredictable movements of the "villains," running toward their respective goals, arouse curiosity.
Starting with J's one line to Han Soo-hyun, "Just print 300,000 counterfeit banknotes," the Supernote game board spins into full swing. The meticulous cooperation to swap counterfeit bills for real ones and the unexpected, conflicting clashes foreshadow developments that cannot be predicted. Finally J fires the starting signal of the game, saying, "Shall we start slowly?" Attention is focused on how the villains' war, which will collide savagely on the board of desire, will unfold.
Meanwhile, TVING original "Villains" will premiere episodes 1-2 first on TVING at 6 p.m. on Dec. 18 (Thu), and will be available to watch in 17 Asia-Pacific countries and territories through HBO Max and in Japan through Disney+ Japan.
