SBS 'Kkokkomu' shows ILLIT member Yoon-a crying out at the anguished scream of an emergency responder who rushed to the scene of the 29-vehicle pileup on Seohae Bridge.
The episode of 'Tails of Tales' airing today (11th) (directed by Lee Keun-byeol, Lee Dong-won, Kim Byung-gil, hereinafter 'Kkokkomu') highlights the shocking scene of the 2006 Seohae Bridge 29-vehicle chain collision that left 12 dead and more than 50 injured, and focuses on testimony from people involved in the accident. Among them, ILLIT's Yoon-a, actor Lee Seo-hwan, and Yoon Hyun-min head to the scene together to witness the shock.
'Kkokkomu' sheds light on one of the worst traffic accidents in Korea's history. On Oct. 3, 2006, on Seohae Bridge where thick fog made visibility nearly zero, vehicles collided one after another, resulting in a 29-vehicle chain collision. A fire also broke out, turning the scene into utter chaos. In particular, a firefighter who responded to the emergency said, I arrived at a place that normally takes five minutes in more than 20 minutes, which shocked viewers. Visibility could not be secured, there were vehicles stopped along the road, and even people watching the accident scene made it difficult to enter the site. A private emergency responder at the scene said, It's still traumatic. Just thinking about that day brings me to tears, and I saw people burning and I'm still sorry we couldn't save them, crying out and leaving viewers heartbroken.
ILLIT's Yoon-a said, I would carry a grudge for the rest of my life too. I think I would have wondered, 'Couldn't something have been done even a little sooner?' and choked up at the emergency responder's bitter cry.
Survivors who were trapped in their vehicles and suffered fires in the fog said, Even recalling that time is painful and difficult, and the production team said it was hard even to locate witnesses. Nine years after that day, a 106-vehicle pileup even occurred on Yeongjong Bridge. Whether the recurring large pileups were man-made disasters or natural catastrophes will be revealed on today's (11th) broadcast of 'Kkokkomu'.
'Kkokkomu' is a program in which three 'storytellers' study on their own and convey what they have learned one-on-one to their respective 'story friends' in the most everyday spaces, and it airs every Thursday at 10:20 p.m. on SBS.
