The leading cast of Netflix's 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' including Lee Jae, Ray Ami and older sister Audrey, had the honor of being named in Time magazine's 2025 "Breakthrough of the Year."
On the 10th (local time), Lee Jae, Ray Ami and older sister Audrey, the leads of 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' walked the red carpet at Time magazine's "2025 A Year In TIME" event held at Pier 59 Studios in Chelsea, New York.
The three were named in Time magazine's list of "people who shone this year" in the "Breakthrough of the Year" institutional sector. This award is given to individuals or groups who showed notable achievements in the year and are expanding their global influence, and traditionally includes figures who have played innovative roles in the fields of culture and the arts.
This year the award in that institutional sector went not to an individual but to the Netflix film 'K-Pop Demon Hunters,' with Time analyzing it as a work that led a cultural phenomenon close to a syndrome, saying, "Since 2013's 'Frozen' there has been no animation that has seeped into people's lives in this way."
At the event, Lee Jae, Ray Ami and older sister Audrey were invited as the project's main creators and as artists who participated in the OST and walked the red carpet. Lee Jae brightened the venue posing in a chic backless dress. Lee Jae also stood alongside Ray Ami and older sister Audrey for a photo. Each of the three displayed a presence that stood out even offstage with their distinct styles.
Also present were actor Yoo Ji-young, who provided the voice acting for the character Joy, Danny Cheng, who provided the voice and singing for 'Baby' of the Lion Boys, and Kevin, formerly of U-KISS, who provided the singing for the member 'Mystery.'
'K-Pop Demon Hunters' is an action fantasy animated film in which K-pop superstars Rumi, Mira and Joy act as hidden heroes who protect the world behind the scenes. Since its release on Netflix on June 20, it has gained worldwide popularity, ranking No. 1 in the U.S. Netflix movies category and surpassing 150 million cumulative views, continuing its box office success.
In particular, "Golden," the signature song from K-Pop Demon Hunters in which the three participated, has entered the Billboard Hot 100 for 24 consecutive weeks and recorded more than 80 billion cumulative streams, continuing its commercial success.
Also, 'K-Pop Demon Hunters' was nominated in three institutional sector categories, including Golden Globe best animated feature film and best original song. It has also achieved successive awards such as the New York Film Critics Circle Award for animation and IndieWire's "IndieWire Honors Winter 2025."
