"Heartman" actor Kwon Sang Woo confessed that he referenced Hugh Grant from "Notting Hill."
On the morning of the 11th at Lotte Cinema Konkuk University entrance in Seoul, a production briefing for the film "Heartman" was held. Present were lead actors Kwon Sang Woo, Moon Chae-won, Park Ji-hwan, Pyo Ji-hoon (P.O), director Choi Won-seop and others.
"Heartman" (director Choi Won-seop, distributed by Lotte Entertainment, produced by Movierock·Like M Company) is a comedy film in which returned man Seung-min (played by Kwon Sang Woo) struggles to not lose his first love Bona (played by Moon Chae-won) whom he meets again, but a secret he can never tell her arises. It is a work from production company Movierock, which produced hits that surpassed 5 million viewers such as "Midnight Runners", "Pilot", and "Sweet & Sour: 7510", reuniting comedy-genre hitmaker Kwon Sang Woo and director Choi Won-seop, and drawing expectations with Moon Chae-won returning with a first-love vibe, Park Ji-hwan showing a strong presence in every work, and scene-stealer Pyo Ji-hoon joining the cast.
Kwon Sang Woo gave a passionate performance as Seung-min, who gave up his dream of becoming a musician and runs a musical instrument shop. One day, his legendary first love Bona appears before him, and the cooled feelings and excitement are instantly revived, making his daily life uncontrollably shaken. Director Choi Won-seop, who specializes in comedy, and Kwon Sang Woo, who led the success of the "Hitman" series, reunite with "Heartman," marking the birth of another reliable pairing.
Asked, "I heard you referenced Hugh Grant's character from the hit 'Notting Hill'," he said, "I did reference him, but being compared is a compliment and an exaggeration. I think people who watch the film will feel that way," and added, "When you really meet a woman you love, I think viewers will feel the fluttering emotions through me."
He continued, "From the woman's perspective as well, I think viewers will feel the emotion of 'Notting Hill' while watching the film from both male and female perspectives," and said, "It's killing me with anticipation. I hope the film opens soon," expressing his hope to meet audiences quickly.
Meanwhile, "Heartman" will be released on Jan. 14 next year as the first comedy film of the new year.
