BTS added another 700 million-view music video.
The music video for "Permission to Dance," which BTS released worldwide simultaneously in July 2021, surpassed 700 million views on YouTube at around 5:14 p.m. on the 10th. With this, BTS now has its 10th music video to reach 700 million views.
"Permission to Dance" is a dance-pop song that tells everyone who has had a hard day that "you can dance as you please without permission." Especially released during the COVID-19 pandemic, it offered a warm consolation that resonated by saying "even though the situation is difficult, find freedom and happiness through dance and song" and "life goes on."
The music video was filled with the members' bright and lively atmosphere. In the latter part, the seven members performed choreography using international sign language with the crowd, delivering a deeper message of hope. They also left a meaningful mark by performing "Permission to Dance" at the 76th United Nations General Assembly in 2021. Starting in the meeting hall and moving through the general assembly lobby, the building entrance and the lawn plaza in sequence, the performance delivered positive energy to people around the world and generated great attention.
When it was released, "Permission to Dance" went straight to No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard main song chart the Hot 100 and stayed on the chart for seven consecutive weeks. The song earned a "gold" certification from the Recording Industry Association of America for music that sold more than 500,000 units. The RIAA's unit tally is based on album sales, digital downloads and streaming weight.
Meanwhile, BTS won the "AAA 10 Legendary (Group)" category at the "10th anniversary Asia Artist Awards 2025" held on the 6th at Kaohsiung National Stadium. With their continued popularity and presence confirmed ahead of a full-group comeback next spring, expectations for a new album and a new world tour are rising even higher.
