The whistleblower A who first raised allegations that comedian Cho Sae-ho was involved with organized crime once announced additional disclosures but suddenly changed his stance and said, "There will be no further disclosures," drawing attention to the background.
Earlier, A said on his social media on the 8th, "From tomorrow (the 9th) I will fight one by one until the truth prevails," announcing plans to raise additional allegations surrounding Cho Sae-ho. He especially mentioned tips related to laundering gambling funds, amplifying the fallout. He also urged Cho Sae-ho, "Don't just talk about suing; explain yourself like a man."
However, A's attitude changed in just one day. On the 9th, A posted a long message on his personal account and said, "I have confirmed the statement released today by Cho Sae-ho," and "I judge that this decision to step down was surely not an easy choice, and I want to show respect and applause for that," indicating he would effectively suspend further disclosures.
A said, "I have no personal animosity toward Cho Sae-ho," and explained, "I had many concerns while receiving various tips and materials, but I confirmed that Cho Sae-ho showed an attitude of taking responsibility." He added, "From now on, materials related to Cho Sae-ho will not be disclosed externally and will be kept personally," and "I hope unnecessary misunderstandings and conflicts do not escalate."
This appears to be a change tied to the statement Cho Sae-ho posted on his social media the same day. In that post, Cho Sae-ho said, "I have attended various local events and met many people, and I deeply reflect on not having been more careful about my personal relationships," but drew a line, saying, "The allegations raised because of those connections are completely untrue." He also said he felt responsibility for the controversy and would voluntarily leave tvN's You Quiz on the Block and KBS2's 2 Days & 1 Night.
Cho Sae-ho's agency, A2Z Entertainment, also reiterated, "Mr. Choi is merely an acquaintance and there was no paid gift or inappropriate relationship," and emphasized again, "We are preparing legal action against the spreading of false information."
Finally, A said, "I sincerely hope Cho Sae-ho returns more mature, as he said," and said, "I believe matters that are not factual will be resolved through legal procedures in the future."
When the whistleblower who once said, "I will fight until the truth prevails," suddenly changed his stance and announced the suspension of disclosures, some interpreted that "Cho Sae-ho's voluntary withdrawal and official apology may have influenced this."
