Singer Sung Si-kyung's side said it "formally received the registration certificate" regarding allegations of operating an 'unregistered agency.'
SK Jaewon, Sung Si-kyung's agency, said in an official statement on the 10th, "As a result of checking the necessary procedures one by one in accordance with guidance on the grace period until Dec. 31 for the registration of popular culture and arts planning businesses announced last September, we completed the registration of popular culture and arts planning business pursuant to Article 26, Paragraph 1 of the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act, and formally received the registration certificate on Nov. 27, 2025."
They added, "We will continue to faithfully carry out the procedures in progress and do our best to accurately convey the facts to the relevant authorities."
Earlier that day, the Seoul Yeongdeungpo Police Station said it had forwarded Sung Si-kyung's sister, a person surnamed Sung, and the agency SK Jaewon to prosecutors without detention on charges of violating the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act.
SK Jaewon is a one-person agency with Sung Si-kyung as its only signed artist, and a person surnamed Sung serves as its CEO. The corporation performed agency duties without registering its popular culture and arts planning business with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which became an issue.
Article 26 of the current Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act requires that entities running entertainment management businesses above a certain scale register as a "popular culture and arts planning business" with the minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Continuing business in violation of this requirement can result in up to two years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won.
Below is the full official statement from Sung Si-kyung's side.
Hello. This is SK Jaewon.
We sincerely apologize for causing concern due to today's reports related to unregistered operations.
Following guidance on the grace period until Dec. 31 for the registration of popular culture and arts planning businesses announced last September, SK Jaewon has checked the necessary procedures one by one and proceeded without any problems.
As a result, we completed the registration of popular culture and arts planning business pursuant to Article 26, Paragraph 1 of the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act and formally received the registration certificate on Nov. 27, 2025.
We will continue to faithfully carry out the procedures in progress and do our best to accurately convey the facts to the relevant authorities.
