Comedian Park Narae's "injection aunt" controversy has spread like sparks to fellow entertainers around her, including SHINee member Key and composer Jung Jae-hyung.
On the 10th, a representative of Jung Jae-hyung's agency Antenna told OSEN, "We issue this official statement to correct stories that are not true and are being distorted. To prevent further misunderstanding regarding the controversial variety show episode, we make it clear that he is completely unrelated to the matter. He has neither a close relationship nor even an acquaintance with Mr. A (the 'injection aunt')."
Earlier, in December last year, Jung Jae-hyung appeared on the MBC variety program I Live Alone to help Park Narae with kimchi-making. At the time, Jung Jae-hyung helped Park Narae with the large-scale kimchi-making as if it were his own business, and when Park Narae mentioned scheduling an IV drip, Jung Jae-hyung said he would do it too.
At the time of the broadcast, that scene was interpreted as an everyday treatment, like receiving nutritional injections at a hospital to recover after hard kimchi-making labor. However, Park Narae was recently embroiled in allegations of illegal medical treatment involving a woman, Mr. A, who is nicknamed the "injection aunt." This raised controversy over whether Jung Jae-hyung also received illegal medical treatment from Ms. A, the "injection aunt."
This controversy is not limited to Jung Jae-hyung. Among posts Ms. A publicly shared on her personal social media were videos corresponding to SHINee member Key. In the videos, Ms. A filmed Key's home, affectionately called Key's companion dogs Comme des and Garçon, and emphasized a relationship that has lasted more than 10 years.
Ms. A deleted all her personal social media posts after becoming embroiled in the controversy. But before that, videos that appeared to have been filmed at SHINee Key's home spread rapidly. Fans even left comments on SHINee Key's social media demanding explanations. However, neither SHINee Key nor his agency SM Entertainment has issued an official statement on the matter.
There are also indications that Ms. A followed many entertainers on social media. This has led to suspicions that Ms. A, who was thought to be Park Narae's "injection aunt," may have been involved with many celebrities. As various videos and VODs of past I Live Alone scenes featuring Jung Jae-hyung and Park Narae were simultaneously deleted, fueling speculation, Jung Jae-hyung's side issued a clarification.
In addition to allegations of illegal medical treatment involving Ms. A, Park Narae is also facing disputes with former managers. On the 3rd, former managers alleged that they suffered so-called "power abuse" by Park Narae, claiming they experienced verbal abuse, assault, being on constant standby and running personal errands during their employment. The former managers filed charges, alleging that Park Narae received illegal medical procedures from Ms. A and committed other illegal acts such as operating a one-person agency without registration.
After the controversy, Park Narae's side denied the former managers' claims, saying the former managers demanded an additional 10% of the agency's revenue after leaving in addition to severance pay and that their claims were untrue and aimed at extracting a settlement. They also said they planned to take strong legal action against the former managers. However, on the 8th, Park Narae posted on her personal social media that she met with the former managers and settled their grievances, and she announced a change of stance, saying she would suspend her broadcasting activities out of a sense of responsibility.
This seemed to bring an end to Park Narae's controversy, but the former managers' allegations against her remain. Likewise, Park Narae's counter-suit against the former managers also remains. Added to this are the allegations of illegal medical treatment surrounding Ms. A, which have further stirred fallout.
