Former lawyer Kang Yong-seok belatedly apologized to singer Kim Gun-mo.
Kang Yong-seok mentioned Kim Gun-mo last month on his YouTube channel 'Toilet Clinic.' Kang Yong-seok said, "There is someone on my mind. Mr. Kim Gun-mo," and added, "I want to hold his hand once and say I'm truly sorry," offering words of apology.
Regarding the time he raised suspicions about Kim Gun-mo on his YouTube channel, Kang Yong-seok also said, "People talk a lot about how we bit into one celebrity and almost made them unable to revive their career, like Kim Gun-mo. I didn't need to concentrate on him so much; I did it too harshly."
Former Channel A anchor Park Jong-jin criticized Kang Yong-seok, saying, "He was like a runaway locomotive," and, "Why did you do that then?"
Meanwhile, Kim Gun-mo resumed activities after about six years, launching a nationwide tour concert 'Kim Gun-mo.' beginning in Busan last August.
He halted broadcasting activities after being accused of sexual assault in 2019. At the time, lawyer Kang Yong-seok relayed the woman's claim that she had been sexually assaulted by Kim Gun-mo. Kim Gun-mo stopped his ongoing nationwide tour concert and filed a defamation and false accusation suit against the woman, insisting on his innocence.
In the meantime, Kim Gun-mo married pianist Jang Ji-yeon by registering their marriage, but he suffered the pain of divorce. The prosecution issued a non-indictment decision on Nov. 2021, and with the woman's appeal and request for a review both dismissed, the case concluded in 2022, but his comeback did not come easily.
Breaking his silence after six years to hold a nationwide tour and meet audiences, Kim Gun-mo showed an even more composed demeanor. On stage he introduced himself, saying, "I rested deeply, and after about five years I thought, 'Ah, it's time (to come back),' but an ad said, 'red ginseng is six years,' so I rested one more year and have come back very well, Kim Gun-mo."
In particular, Kim Gun-mo expressed gratitude, saying, "Thanks to your support, I will live without worrying about comments." Through subtitle messages in the video he also showed strong resolve, writing, "Were those moments of pause white space or deep darkness in life? Anyway, we can just go on again," and, "What I'm filming this time will not be a 'comma' but a 'period.'"
