T-ara alum actress Ham Eun-jung shared her feelings about presenting First Man as her first project after marriage.
MBC held a press conference on the morning of the 10th at its Sangam-dong headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to introduce the new daily drama First Man (written by Seo Hyun-joo, directed by Kang Tae-heum). The leading actors Ham Eun-jung, Yoon Seon-woo, Oh Hyun-kyung, Park Geon-il, Kim Min-seol, Jung Chan, Lee Jae-hwang and director Kang Tae-heum attended the event and, under the moderation of announcer Seo In, discussed First Man.
First Man is a drama that depicts a deadly confrontation between a woman who, for revenge, ends up living someone else's life and a woman who stole someone else's life for her own desires. Writer Seo Hyun-joo, who was loved for Shining Romance and The Greatest Lover, presents another installment in her numbered series following The Second Husband and The Third Marriage.
In this work, T-ara alum actress Ham Eun-jung draws attention by taking on a dual role for the first time since her debut. In this project Ham Eun-jung will portray twin sisters with completely different styles: an older sister who is maxed out on survival skills and a younger sister living as a chaebol gold spoon. That promises a broader acting spectrum than ever before, heightening expectations.
Moreover, Ham Eun-jung recently drew attention by marrying film director Kim Byung-woo. Director Kim Byung-woo, known for The Terror Live, PMC: The Bunker and Omniscient Reader: The Prophet, will present his new film The Great Flood, which will be released on Netflix on the 19th. The fact that the couple will remain active after marriage has attracted attention.
Coincidentally, co-star Yoon Seon-woo also drew attention by marrying actress Kim Ga-eun after a 10-year relationship. In response, Ham Eun-jung said, "From the reading we had good chemistry with actor Yoon Seon-woo. When acting I was able to focus solely because the keyword 'marriage' was not on my mind." She added, "Coincidentally, both of us have had celebrations recently, so I think this will be a work that leaves an impression on ratings and viewers. Coincidentally, it actually helps me concentrate more," she said with a laugh.
She also said, "I was very burdened because it was my first time doing two roles. I felt pressure about how to portray them differently. With help from the writer and the director, I was able to shape them during the reading," and emphasized, "Thanks to that, filming started smoothly. Visually I tried to show them very differently and aimed to perform their emotional motives differently."
Ham Eun-jung also laughed and said about director Kim Byung-woo's advice, "We don't usually talk much about work. But because I am scheduled to do consecutive daily dramas this time, he worried a bit about my stamina. We decided to take tonic together."
First Man will premiere on Monday the 15th at 7:05 p.m. as the successor to The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun, which is currently airing.
