Comedian Park Na-rae denied allegations by her former managers that she transferred large sums to an ex-boyfriend from a company account, but remarks she made on broadcasts about relationships and money that he discussed are receiving renewed attention.
Recently, two of Park Na-rae's former managers applied for a property provisional seizure at the Seoul Western District Court and accused Park Na-rae of workplace harassment · special injury · proxy prescription · unpaid progress fees, and on the 8th filed a complaint with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station accusing her of special injury · defamation · violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
They specifically alleged that Park Na-rae paid company funds to an ex-boyfriend and even raised an embezzlement charge under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes. The complaint said Park Na-rae listed her ex-boyfriend, Mr. C, as a false employee in the account of the one-person agency 'Anpark,' of which she is the de facto representative, and paid about 44 million won in wages from January to November this year. It also alleged that about 300 million won was transferred from the company account to raise a jeonse deposit.
In addition, there were revelations that Park Na-rae registered her mother as a false employee without formal work duties and paid about 55 million won in wages over 11 months, and allegations that about 100 million won of company money was used for personal dwelling management expense and daily necessities.
Park Na-rae's side strongly refuted the former managers' claims and countersued them on the 6th on charges of extortion. Her agency, Anpark, said that after receiving severance pay the managers demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of the company's previous year's sales and called the ex-boyfriend wage allegations "inflated falsehoods" and said they were "pressuring us with absurd claims."
In this situation, Park Na-rae's joking remarks about money related to her ex-boyfriend mentioned on broadcasts are being reexamined online.
Last January, Park Na-rae mentioned past relationships on Channel A's 'Oh Eun-young's Golden Counseling' and said, "People around me asked not only 'Why are you seeing him?' and 'What does Narae see in him?' but also made jokes like 'How much do you give him per month?' countless times."
She said at the time, "At first I laughed it off, but hearing it repeatedly made me think, 'What is this?,'" confessing she was hurt by the repeated prejudice.
Park Na-rae also recounted on model Han Hye-jin's YouTube channel in 2022 an episode of hearing jokes about money regarding her boyfriend.
When Han Hye-jin expressed envy while mentioning Park Na-rae's ex-boyfriend who gave her a luxury bag, Park Na-rae confessed, "I had many money-related incidents before that. There are many people who didn't pay me back," and added, "The first time I showed a decent man to my sister (Han Hye-jin), she was drunk and said something to him. 'Narae is someone I cherish. You, Narae has less money than you think,'" she said.
