Comedian Jeong Jong-cheol properly showed the class of an "Okdongja who is serious about hobbies."
On the 9th, Jeong Jong-cheol's studio "Okdong Land" was revealed on Yoon Hyung-bin's YouTube channel Yoon Hyung-bin's One Punch Man. That day Yoon Hyung-bin, calling him "my comedy mentor and former agency president," brought a gift of premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo, and went to find Jeong Jong-cheol.
The first space revealed was Jeong Jong-cheol's "coffee laboratory." A man serious about coffee, he said, "I kept buying other people's beans and got a reality check. I wondered if this was really my coffee," and explained why he started extracting and roasting himself.
The problem was the equipment price. The coffee machine Jeong Jong-cheol uses is a top-tier domestic group 1 machine, "the final boss," priced at about 9 million won (excluding VAT). Adding a grinder worth about 3.5 million won made Yoon Hyung-bin's mouth drop open.
The new grinder was already reserved. Jeong Jong-cheol laughed, "It hasn't crossed by ship yet. When it comes in, I'll bring it in as No. 1." When a large roaster costing well over 10 million won appeared, Yoon Hyung-bin marveled, "Everything he does has been a hit since long ago."
It wasn't only high-priced equipment. A neatly arranged studio and editing room, a study and even an aquarium appeared, making you feel the "dream of a hobby-obsessed married man." Regarding the interior, Jeong Jong-cheol's characteristic remark summed it up. He calmly said, "I didn't do it. Money did. If you pay money, everything works," and added, "Since it's a space for shooting and working, I wanted to make it pretty if possible."
Even with a succession of "jaw-dropping" equipment reveals, Jeong Jong-cheol lightened the mood with a quip: "That's why I don't have anything saved up." Yoon Hyung-bin also could not hide his surprise, saying, "At this level it's not a hobby but almost a laboratory."
Meanwhile, Jeong Jong-cheol, who married in 2006 and has one son and two daughters, focused on the dining-out and coffee business after his comedy activities and established himself as a businessman. Recently, news that he purchased a building worth about 4.5 billion won in Jamwon-dong, Seoul resurfaced the topic of "Okdongja's recent status."
