'You Quiz on the Block' Yu Jae-seok welcomed Kim Hyun-joo, a descendant of independence activists, and expressed deep gratitude.
The Oct. 10 broadcast of tvN 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz') featured Kim Hyun-joo, the granddaughter of teachers Choi Seon-hwa and Yang Woo-jo. Kim Hyun-joo said, "My grandfather, teacher Yang Woo-jo, went to the United States at the age of 19 to receive an education. He entered Korea to build a textile mill, but because the Japanese were suspicious of him, he joined the provisional government. He also joined as the provisional government's Vice Administrator of the livelihood department," she said, telling stories about her grandfather.
Kim Hyun-joo spoke about her aunt, teacher Yang Je-ni, and told stories about her grandmother, grandfather and great-aunt. Yu Jae-seok said, "As a parent, I wonder what it would be like if my child experienced such air raids, how my daughter would feel," and said, "In 1938 she was first called 'mother.' The mother made a pair of shoes with much effort over several days; wearing the shoes felt good. Jesse improved every day and the antics increased, so love grew," he said.
Then Yu Jae-seok said, "The teachers who kept diaries said, 'For your future..., in a short phrase can I understand you. I want you to live in an independent homeland,'" and added, "On Dec. 10, I will express my gratitude to the independence activists who fought for liberation," offering his thanks.
