Actress Seo Hyunjin, after being a victim of a jeonse fraud, reportedly moved to a self-owned apartment she had previously purchased in Oksu-dong, Seoul, and recently attracted attention by mentioning her current home.
Management SOOP, Seo Hyunjin's agency, told OSEN regarding reports about the move, "It is a matter of private life, so it is difficult to confirm," expressing a cautious stance. This is the same attitude as when earlier reports about the return of the jeonse deposit emerged.
According to earlier reports, Seo Hyunjin moved into a penthouse in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam District, Seoul, in 2020 with a jeonse deposit of 2.5 billion won, and in 2022 she renewed the contract after raising the jeonse deposit to 2.625 billion won. However, when the contract expired in April 2023, the problem arose as the landlord did not return the jeonse deposit.
Seo Hyunjin vacated the residence after completing registration of the leasehold in September of the same year, and in April 2024 she reportedly initiated legal proceedings by filing for auction herself. The property was in a "kkangtong house" condition, with its price having fallen significantly compared with its appraised value, and it had already been passed over in a previous auction, lowering the minimum bid to the 2.2 billion won range. Industry insiders say it may not be easy to recover the full jeonse deposit.
Meanwhile, another outlet reported that Seo Hyunjin moved in September 2023 to an apartment in Oksu-dong, Seongdong District, Seoul. The dwelling was an apartment Seo Hyunjin bought herself in 2018 for about 1.5 billion won, and because the copy of the register shows no mortgage setting, it is presumed to have been purchased entirely with cash. In effect, she moved into the self-owned home she had previously rented out.
Separately, Seo Hyunjin recently spoke candidly about her current home on the recently released YouTube content Salon Drip 2. In the video "Are you decisive? Misunderstood | EP.118 Seo Hyunjin," released on the YouTube channel Salon Drip on the 9th, she calmly said, "What changed when I turned 40 is my stamina."
Asked whether she tends to speak out against unfairness, she said, "When I was young I was a yes girl. But when I don't speak up, other people get harmed," sharing a thought born of experience. She drew a line, however, saying, "My principle is not to let my mood become my attitude."
She also updated that her parents run a book cafe. Seo Hyunjin said, "Right now I live in a home without much storage space, so there are times I wonder if I should throw away scripts," and added, "At times like that I send the scripts to my parents' book cafe. They still have them all," attracting attention.
Even after going through the difficult situation of jeonse fraud, Seo Hyunjin has calmly put her life in order and kept to her principles. That is why each of her choices and every word she says resonates more heavily.
