'Hitman' duo Kwon Sang Woo and director Choi Won-seop announce their return to theaters with Heartman, a film that will bring bright energy to cinemas in the new year of 2026.
Heartman is a comedy about Seung-min (Kwon Sang Woo), a man who has returned and struggles to hold on to his first love when an untellable secret arises that he can never tell her.
The duo from the South Korean comedy hit series Hitman, Kwon Sang Woo and director Choi Won-seop, once again promise a strong presence in theaters in 2026. Director Choi, who specializes in the comedy genre, and Kwon Sang Woo, who led the Hitman series' box office success, reunite with Heartman to form another trusted pairing. The comic tempo and everyday humor that were loved in Hitman, along with Kwon Sang Woo's distinctively warm character work, expand in Heartman into deeper emotions and rhythm.
Seung-min (Kwon Sang Woo), who had given up his dream of being a musician and ran a musical instrument shop, is suddenly visited again by his legendary first love Bona (Moon Chae-won), and the feelings and excitement that had cooled instantly revive, sending his life into uncontrollable turmoil. Seung-min's bumbling efforts to meet dating conditions will provoke both laughter and empathy.
Director Choi Won-seop said, "I thought the only actor who could best bring out the tone of Heartman and the character Seung-min was Kwon Sang Woo," expressing confidence in the casting, and Kwon Sang Woo showed deep trust, saying, "Because we've worked on many projects together, our rhythm is already aligned." Based on the long-built rapport between the two, Heartman will simultaneously deliver relatable laughter and fluttering feelings, cheerfully coloring theaters in 2026.
Heartman, which raises expectations as the reunion of Hitman duo Kwon Sang Woo and director Choi Won-seop, will be available nationwide in theaters on Jan. 14.
