SM Entertainment has drawn a sword against malicious commenters targeting aespa member Winter.
On the 10th, SM Entertainment, the agency of aespa, announced, "We provide an update on the progress of legal action to protect the rights of our artist aespa Winter."
SM said, "We are fully aware of the seriousness of the continuing malicious posts and comments related to our artist (sexual harassment, defamation, personal attacks, insults, invasion of privacy, deepfakes, etc.)," and added, "We have confirmed numerous posts on platforms that damage Winter's character and reputation, malicious postings and sexually harassing posts intended to publicly defame the artist, and after reviewing those posts we plan to expand the scope of criminal complaints step by step."
They continued, "In addition, we are pursuing criminal complaints and civil claims against those who wrote malicious posts about aespa," and said emphatically, "We have大量 secured evidence regarding the creation of malicious rumors, repeated distribution of false information, writing of sexually harassing posts, and production and distribution of mocking and distorted content on personal SNS, online communities and anonymous boards, and we will respond firmly without leniency."
They added, "Please exercise caution to avoid becoming involved in any unpleasant incidents," and "We will continue to do our best in every way to protect the rights of our artists."
