HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE has proven steep growth this year by appearing in large numbers on the U.S. Billboard year-end settlement of account charts.
According to the U.S. Billboard year-end settlement of account charts (Year-End Charts) released on the 9th (local time), KATSEYE's second EP 'BEAUTIFUL CHAOS(뷰티풀 카오스)' entered the Billboard 200 Albums chart at No. 182.
The album also ranked No. 40 on both the Top Album Sales and Top Current Album Sales charts, which rank physical album sales in the United States. It suggests their popularity has taken deep root in the U.S., the world's largest pop market.
The tracks from BEAUTIFUL CHAOS, "Gnarly(날리)" and "Gabriela(가브리엘라)," ranked No. 161 and No. 163 respectively on the Billboard Global 200 Songs chart, which is based on global streaming data.
Based on these achievements, KATSEYE placed No. 87 on the Hot 100 Artists list. On the Billboard Global 200 Artists chart they were No. 54, showing their popularity is high not only in the U.S. but across various countries and regions.
KATSEYE caused a sensation on the Billboard weekly charts this year. The EP BEAUTIFUL CHAOS previously reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200 (the chart dated July 12), and "Gabriela" climbed to a peak of No. 31 on the Hot 100 (the chart dated Nov. 29) more than about five months after its release. In particular, the song reached No. 10 on the Pop Airplay chart (the chart dated Dec. 13), which measures radio airplay points, laying the groundwork for sustained popularity.
BEAUTIFUL CHAOS is an album in which KATSEYE expresses the "beautiful chaos" they encountered while pushing the limits as artists through their own perspective and sensibility. The album has been praised for solidifying the group's unique identity with its sound that fuses various genres, KATSEYE's stylish visuals and powerful performances.
KATSEYE was formed through the audition project "Dream Academy" based on the K-pop methodology and debuted in the United States in June last year. Considered a representative success of the multi-home, multi-genre strategy led by HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk, they are nominees in two categories at the 68th Grammy Awards to be held on Feb. 1 next year: Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
