'You Quiz on the Block' comedian Kim Su-yong mixed gratitude and humor about miraculously surviving a myocardial infarction.
On the 10th episode of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz'), comedian Kim Su-yong appeared. Kim Su-yong said "that morning when I woke up, my chest felt so tight. I was really embarrassed so I didn't say anything, but my wife asked if we should go to the hospital and I said I would put on a pain relief patch. Hot or cool, I chose cool for the patch. Since Kim Sook and I record YouTube comfortably, I drove there without a manager," as he recalled that day.
While he was going to film, he suddenly collapsed, and somehow Im Hyeong-jun, who had angina medication, was able to help Kim Su-yong, and Kim Sook, meanwhile, held Kim Su-yong's tongue which had curled and blocked his airway, allowing him to breathe.
Kim Su-yong said "they performed defibrillation on me seven times. Still, I didn't come back. There is a manual, they said. If the heart doesn't come back, you have to call the police. If the heart doesn't come back, you have to go to the funeral home in Chuncheon. The paramedics thankfully kept performing CPR, and when I regained consciousness they drove the car toward Guri," expressing his gratitude.
Kim Su-yong's close friend Yu Jae-seok asked about Kim Su-yong's jacket. Kim Su-yong said "it turned out they had cut that jacket up with scissors until it was ragged. My ribs hurt so I was holding the jacket. The nurses were asking 'what's wrong with you,'" keeping the humor and making everyone laugh.
