Broadcaster Park Na-rae's YouTube web variety show "Naraesik," in which she was appearing, has decided to temporarily halt production. The production team said the decision was made out of respect for Park Na-rae's wish to suspend activities after various allegations.
On the 9th, the "Naraesik" production team said in an official statement, "We have been conducting careful internal discussions since immediately after the matter related to cast member Park Na-rae occurred," and "Out of respect for the cast member's own wish to suspend activities, we have decided to temporarily halt production of 'Naraesik.'"
The production team added, "We sincerely thank all subscribers who have cherished and supported 'Naraesik,'" and "We ask for the generous understanding of our subscribers regarding this sudden news."
Park Na-rae has recently been embroiled in several controversies, including allegations of abusing power and illegal medical practices, following complaints and accusations raised by former managers. Park Na-rae's side has continued to rebut and explain the allegations and has taken legal action, but judged that it would be difficult to resolve the controversy immediately and declared a voluntary suspension of broadcasting activities.
Accordingly, Park Na-rae has left all of the shows on which she had been a regular cast member — MBC "I Live Alone," "Home for Rescue! Homes," and tvN "Amazing Saturday" — and the new MBC variety show "Na-do Sinna," which was scheduled for the new year lineup, has also been canceled. In addition, production of the YouTube web variety show "Naraesik" has been confirmed to be suspended.
As Park Na-rae had long been a prominent female comedian in the variety show world, attention is focused on how her activities will proceed after judicial decisions and resolution of the controversy.
