Attorney Kang Yong-seok, who had raised past allegations that singer Kim Gun-mo committed sexual assault, said he wants to apologize.
On the 8th, attorney Kang appeared in a new video posted on the YouTube channel "Byun-gi Clinic," which he co-hosts with former Channel A anchor Park Jong-jin, and said, "In the past, I went after Mr. Kim Gun-mo too intensely and too harshly," adding, "I want to offer an apology."
The video that day was posted under the title "Attorney Kang Yong-seok part 2: Gaseyeon, the runaway train called desire!" The discussion proceeded with Kang sharing with former anchor Park what it was like when he was active on the YouTube channel Garosero Research Institute (Gaseyeon).
Regarding the sexual assault allegations against Kim Gun-mo raised during his Gaseyeon activities, Kang said, "(Gaseyeon) would sink its teeth into a single entertainer and leave the person in a near-incapacitated state," adding, "Mr. Kim Gun-mo (is a representative example)."
In 2019, Gaseyeon aired the alleged victim's claim that Kim Gun-mo raped employee A at an entertainment establishment. But in November 2021, prosecutors concluded "no charges," finding that the allegations by A and Gaseyeon were not substantiated.
From the time the sexual assault allegations surfaced, Kim Gun-mo maintained his innocence, but he suffered damage. He left SBS TV's "My Little Old Boy," on which he had been appearing, and canceled his 25th-anniversary debut concert. It was also reported that he and his wife agreed to a divorce.
Kang also said, "To the public, I am deeply sorry for the various controversies I have caused," adding, "Mr. Kim Gun-mo, if you happen to watch this program, please contact me. I would like to apologize to you in person if necessary."
