Park Na-rae decided to withdraw from all variety shows after a series of controversies including manager power abuse allegations, suspicions of illegal medical practices, and failure to register a one-person agency, and Amazing Saturday's side commented on future plans.
On the 9th, tvN told OSEN, "(After Park Na-rae's departure) there are currently no plans to recruit additional members."
Earlier, Park Na-rae became the center of controversy after two former managers filed for provisional seizure of real estate. The former managers, who worked at Park Na-rae's one-person agency, claimed so-called "power abuse" including verbal abuse and physical injury, proxy prescriptions, nonpayment of hosting fees, and constant personal errands.
At the same time, allegations of illegal medical practices were raised that Park Na-rae received proxy prescriptions for psychotropic drugs from a person nicknamed "injection aunt." In addition, the controversy escalated after charges of violating the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act emerged due to failure to register the one-person agency.
As the controversy flared, Park Na-rae's side rebutted, "Two former managers, after resigning, received their severance pay but demanded an additional 10% of the company's revenue. When this was refused, they continued pressure by making claims that are not true," and said, "We are pursuing legal measures to respond to the spreading false information."
However, public sentiment did not easily subside, and Park Na-rae announced a voluntary halt to activities and left all major variety programs where she was a regular, including MBC's Save Me! Homes and I Live Alone.
In particular, Park Na-rae had been an original member of tvN's Amazing Saturday since its first broadcast in April 2018, performing for about seven years. As a beloved "Nolto" known for the chemistry of nine members including MC Boom, Ipjapeun Haetnim, Shin Dong-yup, Moon Se-yoon, and Kim Dong-hyun, attention turned to the possibility of recruiting a new member after Park Na-rae's departure.
However, tvN has tentatively put recruitment of additional members on hold, and upcoming recordings are expected to proceed with an eight-player format without Park Na-rae.<
