Comedian Cho Sae-ho is voluntarily leaving 2 Days & 1 Night one year after joining. The fallout from allegations of ties to organized crime.
On the 9th, KBS 2TV's 2 Days & 1 Night said in an official statement, "The representative of cast member Cho Sae-ho said that in a situation where public concern has not subsided, continuing with the existing schedule as is would not be helpful to the individual program, the cast member himself, and the public who have been consistently expressing concern, so he has expressed his intention to voluntarily withdraw from the program."
It added, "Accordingly, the 2 Days & 1 Night production team decided to respect the decision made after careful consideration by the cast member and his agency, and we hope that no one will be hurt in good faith during this process. We inform you that from recordings after those already completed, Cho Sae-ho will not participate in the program."
The 2 Days & 1 Night production team added, "We humbly accept the worried looks of many people and will do our best to create a good program that meets viewers' expectations."
Earlier, a revelation attracted attention that Cho Sae-ho was close friends with Mr. Choi, a key figure in the largest violent organization in the Geochang area who operates an illegal online gambling site. The exposer, a person surnamed A, claimed that Cho Sae-ho promoted Mr. Choi's franchise restaurant and received expensive gifts in return, presenting photos and circumstances. The released photos showed Cho Sae-ho and Mr. Choi drinking together or attending a wedding together.
Regarding this, Cho Sae-ho's agency A2Z Entertainment drew a line, saying, "Mr. Choi is just an acquaintance, and there is no relationship of any quid pro quo," and "we are preparing legal action against the spreading of false information." However, person A temporarily deleted the post and then reappeared, announcing additional revelations related to Cho Sae-ho.
Eventually, Cho Sae-ho's side said, "He will leave tvN's You Quiz on the Block and KBS 2TV's 2 Days & 1 Night. Cho Sae-ho and his agency intend to respond more sternly to this matter. Legal action to clear up misunderstandings surrounding Cho Sae-ho and to restore his damaged image will be carried out more quickly and more firmly in the future," saying he will leave the programs he is appearing on and return after everything is resolved.
