Actor Heo Seong-tae makes his first appearance on Radio Star. He recounts the hidden preparation process leading up to his first leading role in the film Information Source, the behind-the-scenes of his villain roles spanning Squid Game Season, The Outlaws, and The Spy, and the unexpectedly charming "Heo-bly" charm that he reveals, heating up the studio atmosphere.
In particular, he draws attention by revealing that to perform the high-difficulty action scenes in his first leading film he prepared by telling himself, "I am Won Bin." Meanwhile, on set he shows a surprising contrast to his on-screen charisma by jumping when a bug appears, turning the set into a sea of laughter.
MBC's Radio Star, airing at 10:30 p.m. on the 10th (planning by Kang Young-sun / directed by Yoon Hye-jin, Hwang Yoon-sang, Byun Da-hee), is presented as a special titled "A thousand faces, do you know who I am?" featuring Heo Seong-tae, Shin Sung-rok, Jung I-rang, and Kim Hae-jun.
Heo Seong-tae, who takes his first leading role in the film Information Source and transforms into a detective, introduced, "This time there is also romance," capturing the MCs' attention. To promote the film, he even performed a surprise outfit reveal show in the studio, showing a different charm. He also explodes with cuteness and friendliness contrary to his villain image with the "Heoka-in" dance initiation prepared with Kim Hae-jun.
He shares the behind-the-scenes story that during preparation for his first leading film he repeatedly told himself "I am Won Bin. I am Ma Dong-seok" as a way to prepare for action scenes. He, a fervent fan who watched The Man from Nowhere hundreds of times, makes the set burst into laughter again with his clumsy charm, saying, "If I try to act cool, my hands and feet cringe."
He then detailed behind-the-scenes stories of villain roles by work, including the tense atmosphere during the filming of Squid Game Season, the rough tone setting of The Outlaws, and maintaining a pro-Japanese character in The Spy. In particular, he recounted that during the filming of The Spy, because of the nature of his role he naturally mingled with actors in the pro-Japanese group such as Song Kang-ho and Uhm Tae-goo more than with actors in the righteous group like Gong Yoo and Han Ji-min, and said, "The lines with Shin Sung-rok, Han Ji-min and Gong Yoo were separate," which sent the studio into a sea of laughter.
Kim Guk-jin, captivated by Heo Seong-tae's lovable charm, complimented, "From afar he looks like a villain, but up close he's cute," and Heo Seong-tae once again caused the set to roar with laughter with his characteristic "he he" laugh.
Before becoming an actor, Heo Seong-tae worked at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering and LG Electronics and introduced his career shift to acting through the actor discovery program Miracle Audition. He recalled memorizing Choi Min-sik's acting in full for the audition, prompting the MCs to marvel, "It really was a miracle." He then revealed a moving anecdote that actor Seol KyungGu gave him a "actor's chair" with a gold name on it after seeing his acting, acknowledging him as an actor, and even introduced a special "situation handling method" he recently learned from Seol KyungGu, which elicited laughter.
Heo Seong-tae also revealed the behind-the-scenes story that at first he approached Park Bo-gum with suspicion, saying, "I don't trust people easily," but eventually confirmed that Park Bo-gum is truly a "maker of good stories." He also shared another heartwarming story he experienced while working together on a project.
When asked to choose between Kang Ha-neul and Park Bo-gum, who are called the "dual engines of good stories," he gave an honest answer that drew interest. Having filmed Insider with Kang Ha-neul and Good Boy with Park Bo-gum respectively, he revealed that thanks to Park Bo-gum he recently decided to enter a smoking cessation camp, surprising many.
