Netflix original Physical: Asia has become a national content in Mongolia as well as in Korea, sparking a syndrome-level craze, and it has been confirmed that director PD Jang Ho-gi personally met with the Mongolian prime minister to produce a spinoff. It is a scene symbolizing the expansion of a global entertainment IP and a passage proving the influence of the "Physical" universe.
'Physical: Asia' spinoff version 'Physical: Welcome to Mongolia' is a special Physical friendship travelogue in which the Mongolian team, which faced off fiercely with the Korean team in the final, invites their Korean team friends to their "home Mongolia." According to OSEN reporting on the 9th, director Jang recently visited Mongolia and even managed a meeting with the prime minister, underscoring the content's power.
The new series depicts the Korean team returning to Mongolia to keep a promise between Mongolian team captain Erkhengvayar, who said he would invite the Korean team to Mongolia, and Korean team captain Kim Dong-hyun, who said he would visit Mongolia if given the chance. Erkhengvayar said, "If you win, come visit Mongolia," and Kim Dong-hyun responded, "If I get the chance, I will definitely go." The loyalty of the two captains has become an actual travelogue. This spinoff is a special edition that expands the Physical: Asia universe and is a story of Physical friendship that transcends borders.
The cast reunites the main players from the final: Korean team members Kim Dong-hyun, Amotti, and Mongolian team members Erkhengvayar and Ochir. Above all, Erkhengvayar's "authentic Mongolian-style" travel route, planned from A to Z, piques viewers' curiosity. Beyond the symbolic images often seen in Mongolian content, it is expected to let viewers experience Mongolia through the "local's eye" by featuring restaurants and attractions that Mongolian people actually frequent.
Physical: Welcome to Mongolia will be produced in four episodes, with episodes 1–2 released on Netflix on Dec. 24 and episodes 3–4 released on Dec. 31. This winter, another "Physical" wave is predicted to unfold on the Mongolian steppe.
