Producer Kim Ye-seul spoke about her thoughts on future directed variety shows.
On the 9th at a cafe in Jongno District, an interview was held with Netflix variety show Three Idiots in Kenya producer Kim Ye-seul.
Three Idiots in Kenya is a variety show depicting the chaotic Africa travels of the three reliable laugh makers Lee Soo-keun, Eun Ji-won and Kyuhyun.
'Keganse' originated from the past New Journey to the West spinoff Iceland Three Meals (abbreviated Aganse) where Kyuhyun overcame terrible odds to win the Kenya Giraffe Hotel. It was a project realized six years after Aganse in 2019, keeping the promise to fans.
In particular, this time Na Young-seok producer and production company Eggiscoming's YouTube channel Channel Sipo-ya as well as Earth Arcade producer Kim Ye-seul, who gained the nickname "fourth-generation producer" for directing various variety shows including 'Ppyong Ppyong Jigu Oraksil 2', participated as co-director.
Kim said of the moniker "fourth-generation producer," "I find that title a bit burdensome. It wasn't official; I remember it as a teasing name used jokingly to poke fun at senior Young-seok. So rather than attaching great meaning to it, junior producers will gradually debut. I think it's a word used like a synonym for that."
When asked about points she considered to bring her own individuality to a spinoff program that follows New Journey to the West, she said, "I actually had a lot of 고민. Overall, while directing the program I thought since so many people have been waiting, I wanted to add a little of mine to what people liked. They already got a lot of fun even from things like the game bible they were good at. I tried to put my color into that framework, and from that context came elements like mafia and shadow zombies."
She also spoke about season 2. Kim said, "It seems many people liked it, so that's good. It's not something I can decide alone. If I'm given the opportunity in the future, I think I would like that too," expressing her hope.
When asked about celebrities she would like to work with newly, she said, "The person I originally wanted to work with first was senior Lee Seo-jin. It happened I prepared this and we also did 'Dalla Dalla.' It will be released entertainingly next year. Since I already worked with senior Lee Seo-jin, excluding him, senior Yoon Yeo-jeong has a strong sense of fashion. I think it would be fun to do a fashion-related program with senior Yoon. She's very busy and the opportunity hasn't arisen, so I secretly wish for it," she added, drawing attention.
