The agency said, "Cho Sae-ho feels a deep sense of responsibility for the misunderstandings and controversies raised about him," and "after discussions with the production teams, he decided to withdraw to avoid causing discomfort to viewers and placing a burden on the production staff."
They also said, "We will pursue legal action more sternly and swiftly to correct false information related to this matter and to restore his damaged image," and added, "We will clearly resolve all suspicions and return in good health." Regarding the alleged relationship with Mr. Choi, who is said to be connected to Cho Sae-ho, they reiterated, "He has nothing to do with the business, and the claims of receiving money are also groundless."
By contrast, in the case of Netflix's "Screwballs," the global OTT's policy of releasing already completed content as is has been reported, and viewer reactions are divided. On some online communities and social media, various opinions have emerged, such as, "If he voluntarily withdrew, shouldn't other programs be handled similarly?", "These are allegations with nothing confirmed, so completely editing out already filmed segments is excessive," "Netflix makes quick decisions," and "Screwballs is a variety show, and it's right to proceed as is until there is a legal ruling."
Some have also reacted realistically that "given the nature of the program, it is difficult to alter already filmed segments." In particular, because "Screwballs" relies on chemistry among panelists and the flow of talk, editing out only a specific cast member could greatly undermine the show's completeness.
Cho Sae-ho is currently embroiled in controversy over allegations of ties to a figure identified as a local violent crime boss in Geochang and involvement with illegal online gambling sites. In response, his agency A2Z Entertainment said, "It was merely an acquaintance relationship with no transactional or illegal connections whatsoever," and warned it would take legal action against the spreading of false information.
