"Geukhan84" Kwon Hwa-woon finished second overall in the Big 5 Marathon.
On the 7th episode of the MBC entertainment show "Geukhan84," Kwon Hwa-woon revealed his "run-chinja" side.
On that day, Kian84 stopped running and began walking after 3km when an uphill appeared at the start. By contrast, Kwon Hwa-woon kept running up the hill without hesitation, and there was even a moment when the camera operator lost sight of him.
Showing light footwork, he said, "You have to shorten your stride and push up. I'll keep a 4-minute pace until the first 15km," explaining his strategy.
He also said, "I'll keep a 4-minute pace until the first 15km. I believe not only marathons but all of life is strategy. You have to think while making a strategy," saying he had planned a two-month strategy and showing unusual enthusiasm.
In fact, Kwon Hwa-woon revealed that he simulated training in Korea by finding uphill running courses to prepare for the hellish section that leads from downhill to sand to uphill. He said, "I ran 512km in a month, and my goal is first place," and surprised everyone by saying he had prepared up to a third plan.
Kwon Hwa-woon, who picked up a camera and started running himself, ran without showing any signs of fatigue, and drew attention by conquering the infamous uphill known as the "runners' grave" in just 26 minutes.
Keeping solo second place around the 40km mark, Kwon Hwa-woon chased the leader with a relaxed smile and showed his passion, saying, "I'm still not tired," and "runner's high has come."
As a result, Kwon Hwa-woon crossed the finish line in second place, completed the Big 5 Marathon and received a medal. First place was taken by an athlete from Australia who finished about 30 minutes ahead of Kwon Hwa-woon.
About this, Kwon Hwa-woon said, "It's such a shame that the person who came in first is originally an athlete from Australia. Among amateurs he is first, but still unlucky. Why did he have to participate this year? Still, he is first among amateurs," adding, "I was just so happy to have competed for the lead with such a person."
