EBS will present the science talk show spin-off "Hobby is science travel," featuring MC Defconn and Kim Poong.
"Hobby is science travel," which premieres on Dec. 15 at 10:50 p.m., is a travel program that combines travel and science by meeting local scientists around the world and exploring each region's unique nature, technology and culture through a scientific lens.
"Hobby is science travel" offers both intellectual delight and immersive, on-site experiences as it views major destinations in Switzerland and the United States—such as the Rhône Glacier in Switzerland, Zurich Zoo and a U.S. robotics laboratory—through a scientific prism. It will also open a stage where young people considering careers can dream of becoming scientists by showing the diverse lives of adults living as scientists.
In particular, the trip raises expectations as Defconn, who served as an MC on "Hobby is science," will roam around Switzerland with Lee Dae-han, a professor in the department of life sciences at Sungkyunkwan University, Jang Hong-je, a professor in the department of chemistry at Kwangwoon University, travel creator Wonji, and others. Cartoonist Kim Poong will visit the United States with science communicator Hangseong and creator Wonji, promising an unusual chemistry.
Above all, "Hobby is science travel" breaks the prejudice that science is difficult and travel is predictable by offering a fresh perspective for enjoying each region. Viewers can comfortably follow their journey like a travel entertainment show, naturally accumulate scientific knowledge and gradually fall under the spell of science, drawing more interest.
Moreover, through travel it deeply illuminates the lives of scientists who create the scientific technologies that make humans happy. While it may be a trip for some, for others it is part of life; viewers will experience firsthand the refreshing moments that only scientists can experience and feel, stimulating the senses and making "Hobby is science travel" something to look forward to.
EBS's "Hobby is science travel" premieres on Dec. 15 at 10:50 p.m. and will also be available on OTT channels such as TVing and Wavve.
