In the final episode of the KBS 2TV Saturday-Sunday miniseries "Last Summer" (directed by Min Yeon-hong, written by Jeon Yu-ri), which aired on the 7th, Baek Do-ha (played by Lee Jae-wook) and Song Ha-gyeong (played by Choi Sung-eun) confirmed their unchanging love and reached a tightly closed happy ending.
The episode opened with Ha-gyeong's narration that recalled the first episode and Do-ha and Ha-gyeong's honeyed cohabitation at the peanut house, lifting viewers' smiles high. But the sweetness lasted only briefly; when Ha-gyeong failed to remember Do-ha's birthday, the mood instantly reversed.
Do-ha could not hide his hurt, and feeling sorry, Ha-gyeong planned a splendid birthday party for him. However, contrary to their expectation of a cozy time together, Do-ha's parents, Baek Gi-ho (played by Choi Byung-mo) and Nam Hye-min (played by Woo Hyun-joo), unexpectedly showed up to celebrate their son's birthday.
While Do-ha and Ha-gyeong were bewildered by the unexpected arrival of family, Ha-gyeong's father Song Ji-cheol (played by Jeong Hee-tae) also arrived at the peanut house, drawing attention. The two families gathered and enjoyed a warm time together, and Ha-gyeong's eyes welled up as she read the birthday letter and saw the gloves Ji-cheol had prepared for her.
Meanwhile, Oh Seung-taek (played by Ahn Dong-gu) and Lee Seul (played by Jeong Bo-min) kept running into each other at places that held traces of their 12-year relationship. Eventually, emotions exploded and the two, after a quarrel, came to Do-ha and Ha-gyeong asking them to settle who was right and wrong. Avoiding the fighting couple, Do-ha and Ha-gyeong enjoyed a nighttime walk and recalled memories of past days.
Six months later, Do-ha and Ha-gyeong, still bickering yet exuding a pinkish atmosphere, filled living rooms with excitement. In particular, when Do-ha accidentally found a fetal ultrasound image and mistakenly thought Ha-gyeong was pregnant, his ecstatic reaction at becoming a prospective father gave viewers a big laugh.
Meanwhile, Seung-taek and Seul successfully reunited. A frank conversation at the peanut house in the past became the catalyst for their reunion. In the process, it was revealed that Seul, not Ha-gyeong, was pregnant. Do-ha expressed regret upon learning Ha-gyeong's pregnancy had been a misunderstanding, but he proposed a joint wedding for themselves and their friends and took the lead in preparing Seung-taek and Seul's wedding.
Seung-taek and Seul's wedding was held at the peanut house, which bore Do-ha and Ha-gyeong's touch in every corner. Amid the blessings of the residents of Pattan-myeon, including Seo Su-hyuk (played by Kim Gun-woo), the two became husband and wife.
At the end of the broadcast, the sight of Do-ha and Ha-gyeong placing a polaroid taken at the wedding on the wall and talking affectionately left a deep impression. With narration that condensed the couple's 17-year story and a sweet kiss, the romance of the "Do-ha and Ha-gyeong couple" ended in warm emotion.
