"Power harassment of manager"-embroiled comedian Park Na-rae will halt broadcasting activities.
According to the entertainment industry on the 8th, Park Na-rae posted on her social networking service (SNS) that she "decided to suspend broadcasting activities until everything is neatly resolved."
Park Na-rae added that she is "a comedian whose job is to bring laughter and joy" and said, "I can no longer be a burden to programs and colleagues."
Park Na-rae's former managers on the 3rd filed for a provisional attachment of real estate with the Seoul Western District Court, saying they suffered workplace harassment from Park Na-rae, including aggravated assault, sexual harassment, and verbal abuse.
The former managers also filed a complaint with the Seoul Gangnam Police Station on the 5th accusing Park Na-rae of aggravated assault, defamation by alleging false facts, and violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
They alleged that during their employment they were repeatedly subjected to private instructions such as forced drinking gatherings, errands for side dishes, and cleaning up after parties, and were even forced to play the role of the family's housekeeper.
Park Na-rae said that "in early Nov., two managers who had been like family abruptly resigned, and because I was not given a chance to talk with them until recently, misunderstandings piled up between us."
She continued, "Only yesterday was I able to meet face-to-face with a former manager and we were able to resolve the misunderstandings and distrust between us, but I still think everything is my fault and am reflecting deeply."
Park Na-rae is expected to step down from MBC's variety show I Live Alone and tvN's Amazing Saturday. Earlier, MBC also halted filming of a new variety program in which Park Na-rae was scheduled to appear.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae debuted as a 21st-class open recruitment comedian at KBS and gained popularity through MBC variety shows I Live Alone and Save Me, Holmes.
