Pop legend Cher is reportedly preparing to have a wedding once again.
On the 7th (local time), U.S. entertainment outlet Page Six reported that Cher is planning to marry her boyfriend Alexander AE Edwards as she approaches her 80th birthday next May, nearly 50 years after her second marriage ended.
A source told Britain's Mirror, "Cher is not at all bothered by the 40-year age gap between the two and is ready to commit to each other," adding, "Cher sees turning 80 as the perfect time to formalize their relationship."
However, Cher's spokesperson denied, "That report is not true."
Earlier, in an interview on CBS' Morning, Cher said she brushed off criticism about the age gap with her boyfriend, who is 39 years younger. She said, "So what. Those people aren't living my life. No one knows what kind of relationship we have. We're just having a good time."
Cher also said, "Edwards likewise does not consider the age difference a problem at all," adding, "He often tells me, 'You age, but the soul gets younger and younger.'"
About her three-year relationship with a boyfriend 40 years her junior, Cher expressed affection, "We are always laughing. I really love him. He is really beautiful and one of the most talented people I have ever met."
The two sparked dating rumors in November 2022 when they were photographed holding hands in Los Angeles. A few days later, Cher publicly acknowledged the relationship on social media, responding to criticism head-on, "I'll explain. I don't care what anyone thinks."
She added, "We don't owe anyone an explanation for our relationship. Those who dislike it will dislike it. We are happy and we are hurting no one."
Later, the two made their official couple debut on the red carpet at the Versace fashion show in March 2023, drawing attention for their affectionate displays.
Meanwhile, Cher was married to Sonny Bono from 1964 to 1975 and to Gregg Allman from 1975 to 1979. She is also well known for relationships with famous actors and musicians such as Val Kilmer, Gene Simmons and Tom Cruise.
