On the 7th broadcast, TV CHOSUN 'Gourmet Heo Yeong-man's home-cooked meal travel' (hereinafter 'home-cooked meal travel') featured actor Lee Seong-jae granting an excursion to taste Jeju's cuisine with Heo Yeong-man.
This year marks his 31st year since debut, and he said, "I debuted as an MBC open recruitment talent in '95. This year is exactly 30 years. I debuted in film in '98. It was 'A Petal by the Museum' with actress Shim Eun-ha; that was my debut work," he recalled.
Lee Seong-jae also said, "The two biggest decisions in my life were choosing a career path and getting married. Those two decisions probably didn't take even 10 seconds," which piqued curiosity.
Heo Yeong-man asked, "Where is your wife now?" and Lee Seong-jae answered, "She's in Vancouver with the children now." When Heo Yeong-man asked, "Are you a gireogi dad?" he replied, "I'm not a gireogi. It's over now. A gireogi refers to parents of overseas students. I'm an eagle now," he joked.
In particular, Lee Seong-jae said, "If I miss them, I go (to Canada)," and "I became a grandfather at 49. Grandchildren are just pretty. They are pretty for no reason and without condition. That's why I go (to Vancouver) more often," revealing his exceptional love for his grandchild.
Meanwhile, Lee Seong-jae revealed a 'taste-ignorant' side that embarrassed Heo Yeong-man. Heo Yeong-man laughed and said, "How did you cast someone like this?" when Lee Seong-jae said he did not know 'pulchi' (dried fish).
Then Lee Seong-jae confessed, "My basic philosophy about food is that if I'm hungry I gratefully and deliciously eat it. My basic philosophy about food is that if I'm hungry I gratefully eat it. It's like a famous jjajangmyeon place. So it's delicious jjajangmyeon, and the naengmyeon place is just delicious naengmyeon. I don't know anything special," he admitted.
He added about the foods he usually enjoys, "My family lives in Canada now so I mainly eat alone in the neighborhood and sometimes at home with instant rice," he revealed.
Earlier, Heo Yeong-man, who had praised Lee Seong-jae's handsome looks, asked, "When you were young didn't people say you were bright and pretty a lot?"
Lee Seong-jae said, "When I was one or two years old, my aunt said, 'Was there ever such a pretty baby?' My mother told me that. Now..." he paused. Hearing this, Heo Yeong-man said, "I can imagine how you looked as a child."
Meanwhile, Lee Seong-jae tried and tasted new foods that day, including sea squirt, fried melon, jangguk made with thread-sail filefish, horse meat, and horse bone soup. He said, "By challenging new foods, I tasted ecstasy. If there's an unattainable character, I'll think of today and challenge it. So I'll become an actor who gains ecstasy again later," he said, earning applause.
