Park Na-rae halts activities, 'I Live Alone' takes direct hit…Gwanghee's warning remark from 6 years ago resurfaces
Broadcaster Park Na-rae announced she would suspend her broadcasting activities amid various allegations, and the programs she was appearing on also took a direct hit. In particular, flagship variety show MBC "I Live Alone", tvN "Amazing Saturday", and MBC "Save Me! Holmes" have sequentially left their shows, intensifying the fallout. In this context, Gwanghee's past remarks are being reexamined online.
Park Na-rae posted a lengthy statement on her personal SNS on the 8th. She said, "In early November, two managers who lived like family suddenly resigned, and since then I was not given the opportunity to speak with the parties involved until recently, so misunderstandings accumulated." She added, "With the help of many people, I was finally able to meet face-to-face with my former managers yesterday, and the misunderstandings and distrust were resolved, but I still believe everything is my fault and I deeply reflect," bowing her head.
Park Na-rae ultimately announced a full suspension of her broadcasting activities. She said, "As someone whose job is to bring laughter and enjoyment, I judged that I could no longer be a nuisance to programs and colleagues," and "I will withdraw from all broadcasts until everything is neatly resolved." As a result, Park Na-rae has left "I Live Alone", "Amazing Saturday", and "Save Me! Holmes."
In this context, Gwanghee's past remarks have been recalled online and are drawing attention. Gwanghee appeared on tvN "Amazing Saturday" broadcast in January 2019 and bluntly said in response to Boom's question, "Except for Dong-yeop hyung, none of them are top stars. They are all seasonal."
In response, SHINee's Key retorted, "When people talk about hyung's plastic surgery, they said 'you're seasonal,'" and Gwanghee replied, "I also thought 'Infinite Challenge' would be eternal. But it disappeared," and responded, "Do you think SM will keep protecting you?" He then directed toward Park Na-rae, "It's the same for you. How long do you think 'I Live Alone' will protect you. Wake up," causing a stir on the set. The remark was immediately wrapped up with an apology at the time and passed off with laughter.
However, as Park Na-rae's activity suspension coincides with the resurfacing of that scene, netizens have reacted, saying, "What was a joke on a variety show now seems meaningful," and "Gwanghee's words were more realistic than excessive."
Meanwhile, with Park Na-rae's absence, "I Live Alone" also faces the task of reorganizing its direction after the departure of a core member. Attention is focused on what choices the program will make amid successive controversies and waves of departures, and when and how Park Na-rae will clarify her position.
