Amid allegations that Park Na-rae subjected managers to power harassment and received illegal medical treatment, she has announced a hiatus from activities, and Amazing Saturday will also be leaving the show.
On the 8th, a tvN representative told OSEN, "Amazing Saturday respects Park Na-rae's intention to suspend broadcasting and she will not participate in recordings going forward."
Earlier, on the 3rd Park Na-rae was hit with an application for a real estate provisional seizure at the Seoul Western District Court filed by former managers. The former managers claimed they suffered so-called "power harassment" including verbal abuse, special assault, proxy prescriptions, nonpayment of hosting fees, and being on constant standby for personal errands while working at Park Na-rae's one-person agency.
In addition, it was revealed to the shock of the public that Park Na-rae had been accused of crimes including violations of the Medical Service Act for receiving proxy prescriptions and psychotropic drugs from a person known as the so-called "injection aunt" and violations of the Popular Culture and Arts Industry Development Act for operating without registering a one-person agency.
In response, Park Na-rae's side in a first statement on the 5th denied the claims, saying two employees who worked for about a year and three months demanded an additional 10% of the company's sales after leaving despite receiving proper severance pay, and when that was refused they continued unnecessary misunderstandings and pressure with claims that were not true, so they decided to take legal action. They also claimed that the alleged illegal medical treatment was a house call by a medical professional known as "injection aunt."
Despite Park Na-rae's explanation, when the controversy did not subside she ultimately announced a suspension of activities today (the 8th) via SNS. She said, "In early Nov. two managers who had been like family suddenly resigned, and until recently we were not given an opportunity to talk with the parties involved so misunderstandings accumulated. With your help I was able to meet a former manager only yesterday, and while we were able to resolve misunderstandings and distrust between us, everything remains my fault and I am thinking deeply and reflecting."
Park Na-rae continued, "As a comedian whose job is to bring laughter and joy, I decided to suspend broadcast activities until everything is resolved cleanly because I felt I could no longer cause trouble for programs and colleagues. I bow my head and deeply apologize once again to everyone who believed in and supported me," and said she will leave all broadcasts.
