Broadcaster Park Mi-sun shared an update while battling breast cancer, once again showing a brave demeanor that drew attention. From revealing a shaved-head profile photo to a video showing the entire shaving process, she has been offering strength to many with a calm yet positive attitude.
On the earlier aired tvN "You Quiz on the Block", Park Mi-sun, who had recently revealed her battle with breast cancer, granted an update that she is recovering her health. Recalling the time of her breast cancer diagnosis, Park said, "My family must have been very shocked," but she spoke calmly, "No one cried in front of me."
Especially regarding shaving her head due to chemotherapy, she confessed, "Breast cancer chemotherapy causes hair loss almost 100%, so I decided to shave it in advance," and "I hated the process of hair falling out so much that I just shaved it all off, and even then I joked, 'Doesn't it look like Furiosa?'" She also said, "It's okay to laugh," and even helped break the tense atmosphere around her.
Park Mi-sun honestly revealed, "If I act like everything is fine, my family will worry less," adding, "I am bad at showing I'm in pain, and when I wanted to cry I took a walk alone and cried. Then I comforted myself, 'It will be okay.'" which moved viewers to tears.
She continued, "I heard many women cry while cutting their hair. But hair grows back," and said, "I thought when will I ever have this hair again, so I actually enjoyed it. I even took a shaved-head profile photo. I wore a suit and took a stylish shot, and I'm really glad I kept it," she said with a laugh. The show revealed Park Mi-sun's profile photo taken immediately after shaving, leaving a deep impression.
Meanwhile, Park Mi-sun also revealed the entire decision process to shave her head ahead of her second round of chemotherapy on her YouTube channel. In the video released on the 7th, "Wise life while undergoing treatment-2, sending off my hair," she explained her reason for deciding, "When hair starts to fall out, it actually makes your mind feel worse. So I'm going to cut it off completely and go."
As she calmly smiled while cutting her hair, she confessed, "When I first cut from a bob to a shorter cut, it felt strange. I thought, 'Am I sick? Oh, I am sick,'" adding, "So I told myself, 'I'm going into a drama, this is the role,'" she admitted. After her hair began to fall out, she cut it into a sporty style and ultimately chose to shave it completely. She decided, "I absolutely can't stand it," and "I'll shave it all off," and while watching the falling hair she said matter-of-factly, "The drain is full of hair," which elicited laughter.
When her daughter said, "You look like Furiosa from the movie 'Mad Max'," Park Mi-sun didn't lose her trademark cheerfulness, saying, "I should shoot a parody."
At the end of the video she said, "Exactly 14 days after the first chemotherapy, my hair started to fall out," and shared a sincere message: "I recorded this moment thinking when will I ever shave my head again. I hope everyone still fighting a hard disease now gains strength together."
