"His wife was even mentioned"… Cho Sae-ho alleged mob involvement 'chain after chain', controversy spreads
The so-called 'mob involvement' allegation surrounding comedian Cho Sae-ho is not dying down easily. As whistleblower A continues to make additional claims day after day, this time even mentioning Cho Sae-ho's wife, the controversy is entering a new phase.
Whistleblower A said on his social media on the 5th, "My post has caused a major social ripple and will make Cho Sae-ho uncomfortable," and claimed, "I know which famous influencers, celebrities and public officials have connections with Mr. Choi." He added, "I understand that celebrities are human and can have drinking occasions with organized crime figures," but retorted, "But public figures should set an example for the public. Is it reasonable to describe a 10-year relationship with organized crime as 'mere acquaintances'?"
A said, "Heaven knows and earth knows," and claimed, "It is unlikely that Mr. Choi did not give expensive gifts to his celebrity friends. Cho Sae-ho's conscience will speak," while expanding the suspicion by saying, "If they have known each other for 10 years, it is hard to accept that he did not know what kind of person he was. Isn't it a company that even a corporation knew about and visited?"
The particularly controversial point was the remark that even mentioned Cho Sae-ho's wife. A said, "There is a photo of a drinking gathering at Mr. Choi's house before Cho Sae-ho's marriage, with his current wife present," and claimed, "I have no intention of making it public, but if they keep saying 'mere acquaintances,' I will have no choice but to disclose it." He hinted at further revelations, saying, "In Gangnam, it is already known that the two are like sworn brothers."
A also referred to a segment on MBN's "Kim Myung-jun's News Fighter" and conveyed his gratitude to the anchor who represented his position, saying, "I am thankful." The broadcast pointed out, "The core of the controversy is whether the person in the photo is indeed a key organized crime figure and what kind of business the person runs, but there is no clear explanation about this."
Earlier, A had claimed that Cho Sae-ho maintained a close relationship with Mr. Choi, who is suspected of illegal gambling and money laundering, and that a reciprocal relationship had formed through franchise promotion and receiving expensive gifts. He released photos of the two with their arms around each other or embracing and raised the issue, saying, "Is it acceptable for a national comedian to associate with a powerful organized crime figure and receive expensive gifts?"
In response, Cho Sae-ho's agency A2Z Entertainment strongly denied the allegations, saying, "Those allegations are merely the informant's speculation and are not true," and "The receipt of money or expensive gifts is also completely unfounded." The agency said, "The two are merely acquaintances, and there were no paid gifts or inappropriate relations," and added that it is actively considering legal action for the publication of false information.
Meanwhile, Cho Sae-ho married model Jeong Su-ji, who is nine years his junior, last October. The large-scale ceremony drew attention with more than 900 guests, and afterward they gained attention by sharing honeymoon moments on social media.
