Actor Cha Tae-hyun confessed to a mukbang reaction that even his first-love wife couldn't change.
The episode of "Fairy Jae-hyung," released on a YouTube channel on the 7th, featured Cha Tae-hyun as a guest.
That day, Jung Jae-hyung again fully displayed his cooking skills and presented dishes for Cha Tae-hyun. The table was lined with high-end Western dishes ranging from preparations using caviar, known as one of the world's three delicacies, to champagne-based items.
However, Cha Tae-hyun awkwardly said, "Hyung, I'm someone who feels nothing about food." He laughed, "So whatever you cook, I don't notice it." He smiled sheepishly and said, "My wife is such a great cook, but when she feeds me, there's really no sense of reward, you know?"
Cha Tae-hyun has long been known for the image of a "national sweetheart" after marrying his first-love wife. In fact, he married his current wife, whom he first met in high school, after more than 13 years of dating in 2006. He has been praised for raising a happy family with three children — one son and two daughters. That Cha Tae-hyun's food reaction couldn't be changed even by his first-love wife surprised viewers.
Jung Jae-hyung, who developed a deep love for gastronomy and food during his long stay studying in France, was shocked by Cha Tae-hyun's comment. Still, when Cha Tae-hyun laughed, saying, "If I say it's not tasty, it really means I can't eat it," Jung nervously asked, "How is it?" Cha Tae-hyun ate the caviar dish that Jung Jae-hyung had likely prepared at a high level and said indifferently, "It tastes like caviar," which drew incredulous laughter.
Eventually even Jung Jae-hyung asked, "Soo-chan's mother worked hard," adding, "This is all there is; people who cook rely on a reaction, and you do so well on variety shows, so why can't you do this?" Cha Tae-hyun agreed, "I've always been bad with food on variety shows too," and confessed, "A famous example is '2 Days & 1 Night' — they don't give food there and such. I didn't care. I thought, 'Whatever, why fight over that?'"
Cha Tae-hyun laughed, "And what I dislike is that I can't eat spicy food. When a spicy penalty came up, I tried my best. I fought like crazy. I can't eat spicy food."
