Yang Jun-hyuk boasted of his affection for yellowtail.
On the 7th broadcast of KBS 2TV's 'The boss's ears are donkey ears', the stories of Lee Sun-sil, Choi Kyu-seong and Yang Jun-hyuk aired.
That day Park Myung-soo met pastry chef Choi Kyu-seong, known as the "king of desserts," and talked. Choi Kyu-seong mentioned his time studying in France and said, "Actually, at that time I wanted to work at a famous, well-known hotel, but many foreigners come for internships. So there is no need to hire (them)."
Choi Kyu-seong said, "So I ended up working at a bakery because they said there were colleagues working there. But when I went in, there was no one. I had to work alone." He said he earned about 1.4 million won a month at the time. Park Myung-soo worried, "That's really minimum wage, how can you live on that?" and Choi Kyu-seong said, "If I earned that, more than half went to the monthly rent, and I lived on the remaining money." He added, "And I was lucky enough to get into a hotel. I got scolded a lot. French people are very direct," and lamented, "They cursed like 'ping pong ping pong' or 'ching chang chong.' I didn't even know those words were racist."
Later pastry chef Choi Kyu-seong presented a new recipe called "golden truffle cake" to Park Myung-soo and Choi Yoo-jung, and Choi Yoo-jung advised, "I wish the aroma were a little stronger." Choi Kyu-seong called his staff to taste it, and the employees also said they would prefer a stronger truffle scent.
Pastry chef Choi Kyu-seong introduced a new menu item called "baba," and Park Myung-soo smiled with satisfaction and moved his hands quickly. Choi Yoo-jung also admired the harmony of the fruit flesh and the bread.
Next to appear was Yang Jun-hyuk, the "father of large yellowtail" and "Yang-shin." He said he operates an aquaculture farm of about 3,000 pyeong and has annual sales of 3 billion won. Earlier last week Yang Jun-hyuk complained to Jun Hyun-moo that he was frustrated, saying, "Even that guy gets married," after making a fuss with his wife.
With help from the head of the fisheries team and the head of the marketing team, Yang Jun-hyuk put on a diving suit. He said, "I don't spare money when it comes to yellowtail," and revealed he recently spent 200 million won just on feed, water trucks and other items. Yang Jun-hyuk said, "I'll go into the farm myself to see whether these guys are growing well or not." He also said he planned to catch healthy yellowtail and personally serve them to the residents of Guryongpo.
Yang Jun-hyuk went into a 4-meter-deep fish farm and planned to herd the yellowtail to one side so the heads of team on land could catch the gathered fish with landing nets. Faced with the enormous yellowtail, Yang Jun-hyuk said, "Sometimes they pass by like missiles. They nudge and go."
In the end Yang Jun-hyuk gave up diving and came up, saying, "It was harder than the Korean Series." He was even unable to place a ladder. Eventually he tried diving again using fins and a pole, took his hands off the ladder and walked slowly.
But after a short time Yang Jun-hyuk started spinning and even became tied to the oxygen line. Kim Sook worried, "It might be better to go to a school and learn before going in." Eventually the underwater team staff stepped in to herd the yellowtail, and Yang Jun-hyuk decided to take a landing net and catch the fish.
After successfully catching a 10kg large yellowtail, Yang Jun-hyuk moved to serve the elders and began dismantling the yellowtail himself. Yang Jun-hyuk said, "This was the first year since I fully gave up fishing and moved to the countryside with my wife. I had wanted to hold a village feast earlier, and an opportunity came so I arranged the event."
Yang Jun-hyuk performed the yellowtail dismantling show himself for the elders, boasting, "I learned how to dismantle yellowtail directly from our head chef." But the residents showed a reluctant expression and said with disappointment, "We are seaside people and eat yellowtail sashimi often, and it's yellowtail sashimi again."
Yang Jun-hyuk started cleaning without hesitation, and the residents watched and applauded. Though he had been reborn not as Yang-shin but as Bang-shin, he was helpless in front of the Guryongpo elders. Residents worried, "If you cut off the tail it will be hard to prepare," and some even reacted, "He doesn't seem to be an expert."
In the studio Jun Hyun-moo and Kim Sook criticized, "It's not the great yellowtail god but a great humiliation," and, "It looks like an idiot rather than a yellowtail god," and Yang Jun-hyuk continued dismantling the yellowtail for more than 20 minutes. An elder, tired of waiting, said, "How long is that going to take? Should I go?" and eventually stood up.
Kim Sook said, "The elders need to eat at that time and take their medicine. If they miss that it's a big problem," and Yang Jun-hyuk apologized, "I didn't know they went home." Afterwards the elders said, "If it takes this long again we'll go home," and at that time Yang Jun-hyuk's wife brought boiled pork slices.
The elders eating the boiled pork praised, "Yang Jun-hyuk sir married well," and Jun Hyun-moo criticized, "Do you have to be like that to get married?" Kim Young-hee quipped, "If you are like that, a person full of maternal instinct will take you," drawing laughter.
Finally they began tasting the yellowtail, and the elders praised, "Oh it's sweet, thumb up." As overall reviews were positive, Yang Jun-hyuk relaxed, and he said, "The elders recognized it the moment they took a bite." Reactions followed in the studio expressing a desire to try the yellowtail, and Yang Jun-hyuk said, "Come anytime. I'll treat you." Park Myung-soo joked, "I'll come when you're not here," prompting laughter.
Yang Jun-hyuk told the elders, "After a lifetime of playing baseball I came to Guryongpo and found a second life with yellowtail; I'm grateful you welcomed me and my wife like family. I didn't come here solely so Yang Jun-hyuk could live well alone; I'll make sure my mother and father live well so we all eat and live well together."
