On Dec. 8 at 9 p.m., MBC's "O Eun-young report - marriage hell" (hereinafter "marriage hell") will reveal the story of a 'separate-house couple' who have lived apart for 15 years and do not even have everyday conversations. The two people fell in love at first sight and married, but now they have erected a solid wall in their hearts and only a deeper emotional chasm remains. What on earth happened to them?
In this episode, a 'separate-house couple' married for 35 years visits Dr. O Eun-young. The 'separate-house couple' has been living what is essentially a separated life for 15 years, moving among three homes in Gwangyang, Tongyeong and Yeosu. When children and their spouses are present, they are warm like an ordinary family, but when the couple is alone the atmosphere becomes frozen. The husband desperately avoids staying in the same space when his wife speaks to him and shows a disconnected appearance in which they do not even exchange everyday conversation.
The 'separate-house couple' communicate only through their daughter. The two express deep resentment toward each other. The husband complains, "Being in the same space as my wife is awkward. We have no shared hobbies or tendencies at all. When I talk with my wife, neither my body nor my mind feels comfortable." The husband then reveals a decisive incident that led him to cut off conversation, saying, "My wife is violent and cruel. She is a person like an awl."
The wife's position was completely different. She said she does not remember the incident the husband mentioned at all. Rather, the wife vents toward her husband, saying, "I lived in fear, feeling like I was hit by a bomb. My husband acted in extreme ways beyond common sense." The husband bristled at the wife's claim, saying, "Don't demonize me," which intensifies curiosity about the truth tangled between the two.
The 'separate-house couple' bear wounds that cannot be healed and their emotional chasm has deepened to the utmost. Will the two be able to talk again?
