Broadcaster Park Na-rae has expressed her position regarding the embezzlement allegations.
On the 6th, Park Na-rae's side told OSEN, "The allegation that she falsely registered her ex-boyfriend as an official employee and then paid him a salary is clearly false," adding, "This is an attempt to pressure (Park Na-rae) with a complaint containing ridiculous claims."
According to a report by one media outlet on the 5th, Park Na-rae's former managers filed a complaint that day at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul accusing Park Na-rae of violating the Act on the Aggravated Punishment, etc. of Specific Economic Crimes (embezzlement). The complaint alleged that Park Na-rae, as the de facto head of the single-person agency Anpark, repeatedly committed embezzlement over a long period by arbitrarily using company funds for private purposes unrelated to business and leaking funds externally.
The former managers claimed that Park Na-rae falsely listed her ex-boyfriend, a person surnamed A, as an official employee and paid him a monthly salary for 11 months from January to November this year, and that the total aggregates amounted to about 44 million won. They also alleged that around August this year Park Na-rae transferred about 300 million won from a company account to help A secure a jeonse deposit. The former managers also said that Park Na-rae's mother, listed as the representative of Anpark, was falsely registered as an official employee despite not actually providing labor, and that over 11 months she was paid a total of about 55 million won in monthly salaries.
The complaint also alleged that from January to November this year Park Na-rae used at least about 10 million won from a company account for personal dwelling management fees and purchases of personal items.
Meanwhile, Park Na-rae's side responded to the former managers' revelations, saying, "Two employees who worked with Park Na-rae for about one year and three months recently resigned from our company, and we duly paid their severance. However, after receiving their severance, those employees additionally demanded an amount equivalent to 10% of the company's previous year's sales. As time passed they added new claims and continued to pressure Park Na-rae and our company, and the requested amounts gradually increased to several tens of millions of won. Park Na-rae has suffered great emotional distress and psychological shock due to the sudden departures of the employees she worked with, the baseless claims that followed, the growing demands for money, and the pressure through the media."
